Importing C63 from the US or Germany, which is better ??

Dear All,

i have been trying to collect some information regarding importing a C63 to Egypt. i have contacted the dealer here and they asked for 54,000 Euros for the car (which include thier commission, shipping and other costs) and i then will have to pay 270% more customs over the car price....which is like 145800 Euros......

since i have to purchase the car at the lowest possible price to avoide paying high customs, i noticed that the price of the base model in the US is around 55,000 USD and germany around 67,000 DM which is much more than the US.

is there any tax involved in the prices above like VAT and if i went to the US or Germany to get the car will i get it lower than that price as i will export it and not a resident?

Thanks allot...

welcome to the forum.

This matter will be illegal. Tax is tax, and to avoid paying 270% tax, there are ways but let me tell you, it's not very simple.

Don't get caught.

well i think what he is asking is would it be cheaper in the end to buy from the US and have it imported since 270% of the purchase price would be cheaper from the US then Germany.

MBUSA highly discourages any and all dealers to export cars....

Not only are dealers discouraged from knowingly selling cars that are subsequently exported, but the manufacturer warranties (all) become null and void.

I assume that is a big reason why other country members talking about how lucky we are getting the cars so cheap just don't import it from us as shipping is not overly expensive in comparison to MSRP cost savings?

Not only they're highly discouraged, US dealers can't export the car at all. In addition, dealers here in the U.S. (or at least in California) make you sign a separate statement that you will NOT export the car for at least 1 year after purchase (new cars only of course).
