Hi,
Sorry if this is a repost but I was sitting around trying to figure out how long the Pirelli 18 inch tires last on a C63 and what is the key thing to look at for wear and tear on a tire? A friend of mine looked at them and said 3,500 miles when I first got it. I read that you are supposed to look at the grid and see the difference between the rubber and the grid. The more deep space in the grid the better health of the tire. Is this true?![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Sorry, This question may sound naive to many of you but I am naive when it comes to these things. Please enlighten me.... lol

It really all depends on the tire. But as a general rule of thumb, yes, more tread depth is better. As far as how long the tire life on the C63 should be.... I think it's safe to say 8-10k miles or so. With this car, owners will probably want to put Tirerack on speed dial. hehe

Were you not the guy that also was asking how to do the best burnouts? You will not be able to do big burnouts and expect the tires to hold up. Just like buying a AMG and people complaining about the poor MPG. Big horsepower and monster torque do not equal great MPG.

How is your C63 tire wear?
Where do you come up with 8-10k?
Why proffer an opinion when you have no relative experience?
Its like answering the age old question "How long is a piece of string?"

Too many variables there to come out with your numbers methinks.
Especially considering you dont own a C63! In the interests of "Full Dislosure" why not state you dont own one but you have read somewhere" etc.. etc
Oh Sorry I forgot you are a stock broker. Typical then for a "Scientific Wild *** Guess"
Did you have P-Zeros on your Piaggio then?

i dont need to state i dont own one yet
it says so in my sig
stop trolling forums and being an ***-hole
on average, id probably change any tires at roughly 12k
pirellis go extra quick, i had them on my c43
and like i said before, you can burn thru tires in one day

2009 C63
A friend has an 08 CLK550 and he only got 10,000 miles out of the stock Pirellis. The dealer told him they are a soft compound and not to expect more than that. He put on a set of Michelin PS2's instead. They're a harder compound and should last longer. He's not a tire burner.

Touched a nerve did I?
Why or why do you proclaim yourself to be the wise wizard or is that something you do naturally?
And yet you write like a 13 year old adolescent?

a quarter mile at a time
You guys do know that the P0 on the C63 is a completely new tire right? Also, comparing two tires and saying the wear characteristics will be the same as another is not very smart. Some Pirelli tires are engineered to wear more quickly, others less quickly.

ive used the rossos before and my opinion is that the pirellis dont last. not to mention theyre super expensive.
PS2s have lasted longer for me, been a little cheaper, and performed just as well if not better.

Re. Pirelli P-Zero Rossa, standard tyre on my SLK350, the rears lasted 35000km and the fronts just over 40'km including one track day. I’m happy with them being standard on the C63. FWIW, worst tyre life was with Continental ContiSport (First edition) with a C200 - 12000km.
