Not to be brash, but how official is this pricing? Was posted on the MBUSA web site or some official press release?

I have some questions about the gas guzzler tax (GGT) for U.S. buyers. The GGT is a federal tax on the car because of fuel economy, or lack of it right?

Having said that, when you go to buy the car do you pay sales tax just on the car and options or do you also pay sales tax on the car, options AND the GGT?

Unfortunately the gas guzz is added to the sticker and so yes, you pay tax on the tax. Nice huh.

As for the overall price increase as an '09 buyer it presents me with a hike but not too painful and still prices the c63 way better than an equivalent spec (- the engine!) m3. At the same time, you '08owners can feel good that you saved soem $'s AND got your cars early.

I thought it was exclusive to the performance package. I'm not saying I'm right.

They had listed a performance package worth 6800 yesterday. It was gone this morning. That package had CF in it.

I don't think it was for us as it was listed on the AMG site, which I suspect it is the US one.

I talked to the GM today, he told me no pricing for Canada yet.

I just want to try this icon to see if it will appear.

The latest from my dealer:

Carbon Fiber Trim $2500 ouch
030 PP package $3990

The PP package write-up goes like this...

030 AMG Performance Package AMG Limited (whats with the Limited?)= $3900
251 Delimitation of top speed to 174
471 Limited Slip Differential lock

Doesn't say anything about the steering wheel (Alantra) and Brakes Composite and what does "Limited" mean? my sales person couldn't answer anything.

M6 has way more CF inside & it only cost $300, Audi charges $500 for their CF in a S5. Are we all paying for Lewis Hamilton's crashes?

So, a fully loaded (including 030) will cost you $70k. I love this car, but a
$70k C-class is starting to not make a lot of sense. You could get a slightly used CL, CLS or E AMG car for that price.

It's a lot of dough but seems to be the stadard across the industry right now. My well-specced e46 M3 cost me $54k - today that would be $71k plus gas guz plus tax...Back then a new 540i loaded was $56k, today is $74k. At the same time with gas prices and the economy, premium cars with large engines have a tanking resale - so you're absolutely right - you can get a year old CL for a steal right now. It really comes down to what type of car you want. My personal plan is to enjoy my C63 for a couple of years and then switch to a pre-owned cl600 or cl63. I'm not ready for a luxo-barge yet but probably will be by then.

Luxury pre-owned really is a buyers market right now. I bought a 6 month old 550i with 6,000 miles for $57 16 months ago - sticker was $72! Just sold it to a very lucky buyer for $43!! no dealership would go more than $37 on trade.
