In the SI system, it is cm^3 and that's it. Nothing called KPH, it is Km/h and so on. What surprised me, is the rounding up to the 6.3 L, which does not make sense on the part of AMG. It is listed as 6.2 in Canada, which is the correct way of rounding the number.

MB did this as a tribute to history. The original 6.3 V8 was a great engine in its day.

The "63" name and badging is a tribute. Listing "6.3L 32-valve V-8 engine" as a technical spec is lying.

I am sure that engine was a great engine. The tribute for this engine was the 6.3 sign. That was known all over the world. As a respectable engineering statement, you would say 6.2L for the engine. This is said on the Canadian site. When we nail other people for 1 hp, mistake, companies should be nailed for 1 cm^3.

I am not condoning the misinformation from MB. The tribute piece is questionable at best. So you all have a good point.

Still, that old 6.3L was sweet (as is the 6.2L).

The reason 6208 cc is called 6.3L has to do with German car tax laws.

By their law displacement has to be rounded up, the bigger the engine the more taxes they have to pay. You can see why it would benefit German tax authorities.

And of course the history of AMG is involved too.

I guess this brings this argument to rest. But for engineers, I don't think they will round up. In reality the engine is 6.2L. It will be a long shot to bring 0.08 L to 1.

I'm not sure what is going on in this thread but it has been enjoyable.

A big hug to all of you. You know. One of those hugs where it goes a little too long and makes both of us uncomfortable. In the end we kind of hit each other on the back really hard.

Interesting. In mat, pizda is another of the four base words (along with huy, blyad and ebat). [I earlier said it was based on Carlin's seven dirty words, but it's really only built on four.] In fact, Emperor kicked this thread off with an English epithet that really has no equivalent it mat. A 2003 article in the New Yorker by Victor Erofeyev states:

Unlike other languages, Russian obscenity is rooted entirely in sexuality. Defecation is not part of cursing, and the Russian word for "***-hole" is too cumbersome for expressive purposes.

So Russian mat gets along fine with four base words.

Pizda is the female equivalent of huy in Russian mat. (Interestingly, huy comes from khvoya, "pine needle," which is something that *****s.)

Can I assume pizdu has the same meaning in Polish? If so, is more Polish cursing based on the female part? There are plenty of pizdacurses in Russian too, but khuy seems more expressive there.

This thread has now taken an odd but interesting linguistic turn.

funny, i just read through 45 posts and i realize that none of them contain the answer pertaining to the original question.

Vadim, instead of telling me to search, which i did and found nothing, you could just have given me a yes/no answer.
good for you.

displacement is as follows:
6208 cc for c63
6208 cm ^3 for e63 (thats cm cubed by the way)
so does anyone know what this means?
ps. apologies if this has been posted i cant really keep up whilst last emperors threads flood the forum
You got this answered right away. 6208 cc = 6208 cm^3. The engines have the same displacement.

Are you asking why does an S63 develop more power than a C63? Mostly because of exhaust plumbing. But that's not what you asked.
