Pricing, What Does the Dealer Know?
I know, not much...
More specifically, if people are getting $2100+ discounts off of MSRP, will my dealer be able to see that in his system? It seems like discounts are being obtained in the 2k to 5k range, but my dealer acts as if everyone is buying at MSRP (negotiation tactic for sure). He even went as far as to comment that the Region Manager is also surprised that this car would sell under MSRP.
Would the dealer know one way or the other?
Thanks all.

No, dealers can only rely on what the customer is telling them (if the customer is being truthful). I can tell you that we are not planning on discounting our current C63 b/c the other three we sold went within a few days of being in inventory and we will not receive another one for a couple of months. I do not forsee the one we just got today lasting through the weekend. That's not to say a discount cannot be had, just unlikely unless you ordered it and agreed to a price beforehand.

also depends on dealership and region
would be harder to get a discount out in cali (not exactly sure why tho)
and if youre working with a big dealership, they might pass on giving you the discount, becuz they know someone will come in and pay more almost instantly

Totally depends on dealership. Mine has an allocation of six C63 cars. Five were prepaid and one was a spec car. I happened to walk in the day it arrived. Total chance.
BUT - because it was their only spec allocation, it wasn't getting a discount. Now my dealer doesn't ADM and gouge - so at least there's that.
But I would suspect in Chicago market, same as Cali - MSRP is your game. You could locate one out of region and drive back to your home town. Must be some smaller town dealers that will work with you. And yea, so far the concensus is $2k max off.
