I just noticed tonight that my door handles appear to have a lot of metal flake.....I didnt realize that MB had two different blacks offered this year and I have gloss black...

Is this a common problem?

I'd understand seeing different colors for silver or palladium silver because of the different hues it generates depending on light. but I havn't heard anything about black and obsidian.
I think it may have been an error from the department.
if it bothers you I suggest talking to your dealer. they may have installed an obsidian black door handle on your black.

Do you have the obsidian black ( silver flakes) If you have GLoss black that is another story.

If you have a black car (040 paint code) the handles are obsidian black. It is that way on all black w204's.

This is old news! 040 cars get metallic door handles. I would bet it doesn't show as much that it is worn out or something!

On some other manufacturers, the bumpers and sheetmetal does not match. It is quite normal due to the substrate being painted over.

they did this back on the W203's as well.
