The car sounds its symphony when the Oil Temp is at 105 and Water Temp is at 93. Next time you get to that Temp, roll down the window and watch your smile grow..

Just as a point of interest,, all MB cars with a visco fan cut in at 80c. Cars with electric fans cut in at 100C.

Petrol engines are at their best at just over 100c

Does any know how to change the AMG menu Temp to Celsius instead of F . Its just weird looking at Celsius on the analog gauge for the water temp then seeing F on the AMG menu.

Mine's coolant temp is around 92 C, the oil temp is 99~102 C (could be 114~117 C while hard driving)

Mine never gets above 199F even in the 110F outside temp in SoCal. My oil temp has gotten to 145F but there was a lot of smoke comming off the tires at that time, but once that cleared up, and back to normal driving, the oil temp came down to normal, but Water temp never exceded 199F. I agree with MTHIS that the car needs to run cooler, lower thermostat and change fan on temps via the ECU code too would not hurt any. But bare in mind these engines will reach peek performance on the hotter side than on the colder side. Just my opinion

Anyone went into limp mode for too much heat?? I have once.

If you go into the AMG mode on the steering wheel you can monitor the temps better.

The big of an engine stuffed into that small of a engine bay is going to produce a lot of heat.

Riccardo, there's an option at the board computer where you can change measures & units. I'm in my office and the car is down in the garage, but I believe it is something like:

(arrow > until you reach "Configurations" or "Car Options") Configurations (click ok on the steering wheel to proceed)> Measures and units (click OK to change).

+1. This is the typical range for my C63 AMG as well; occasionally, I see the oil temp get to 224-225 degrees F, but it usually settles back down again.

I drove my car hard for about 3 minutes tonight in Melbourne and it was a cold night and I saw 112c on the AMG gauge.

I also regularily see 105c which is norma. For these engines.

I've had my oil temp go up to 242F when I was pushing it hard in the back country roads, but it settles to 217F after 5-8min of normal driving.

Resurrecting an old thread as I'm still wondering what (coolant temps) most C63 AMG's run and whether or not a "lower-temp" T-stat would help to keep the C63 AMG run cooler, especially in hotter weather.

Some of my friends with other high performance cars have "lower-temp" thermostats, and they swear by them, especially in hot weather. But for the C63 AMG, it's not really much of a topic of discussion as most would say that the C63 AMG doesn't suffer much from "heat soak" or run too hot.

However, it seems that MTHIS, hhughes1, Dads C63, and a few others also have the MHP 180 degree F T-stat...just wondering if this "lower-temp" T-stat makes a difference on the C63 AMG, whether it be on the track and/or for everyday driving.

C-63 engine coolant Temps

I'm also very interested , but would like to see more info. Like < weather the modded t-stat assy is being run stand alone or with the ecu correction done for the radiator suction fan { AKA -10* fan Mod } or even if the fan mod is available for the 6.3 AMG . Does that correction work with in itself or better with the Modded T-stat assy. Thanks to Sflagator for resurrecting this thread. If I come up with a good assy It will be only available through selected Dealers. james@acgsandiego.com & andrew@modernhorsepower.com , As I'm traveling more and have minimal time . Cheers & and have a Happy & Healthy New Year. _PTEngineering

I had the opportunity to take my car and Keith's to the track a couple of weeks ago. He has the MHP T-stat and manifold gaskets while I have neither. It was a nice 55 degree morning and I was comparing temps on the road. Keith's car does run mid 180's coolant temp while mine is high 190's. His oil temp was ~208 while mine was ~217. In no way whatsoever can this be translated into measurable performance terms but his car does run cooler than stock.

Thanks, hhughes1. I may ask about the "- 10 degree F fan mod" the next time I'm at my dealer for service.
