How about the brakes. Do the rotors also have to be swapped out with each pad change?

Rotors and pads
I think it's a common practice to change the rotors every other time you replace the pads. But it really depends upon the conditions of the rotors and how well the they are wearing. The difference between the minimum thickness and a new vented rotor is usually between 1.5mm and 2.0 mm. The manual calls for changing out the rotors before they are down to the minimum thickness.
For example the front rotors on my E500 4Matic are 32mm new with a minimum thickness of 30mm. I have 86,000 miles on the original rotors and pads and the rotors are still not down to 31mm. I am intending to change both the pads and rotors at 100,000 miles. It's unlikely that you will get anywhere near this mileage on the brakes of a C63.

A four post lift is a breeze - but I strongly recommend that you purchase these lift inserts from http://www.reverselogic.us/. It is an incredible product, same as the AMG factory uses. On the one occasion that the dealer had my car, I supplied these with the car and insisted that they use them.

Don't buy a Topsider. It is a POS. The handle came off after two uses. I now use a Mityvac that plugs into my compressor so I no longer need to pump.

Daniel,
The oil quantity is on P 350 of the C-Class Operator's Manual in the Technical data section near the back of the manual. Mobil 1 0w40 or 5w40 is the recommended oil. The Engine with oil filter capacity is 9.0 US qt (8.5 l).
Enjoy

a quarter mile at a time
Modern MB engines are designed for oil extraction, you will get the same ammount of oil out using extraction as using the drain plug.
The proper way to do this is to warm up your engine and then extract the oil. This will suspend any particles that may need to be removed. Any particles too heavy for this should be captured by the oil filter, that's why you have one.
Not removing the drain plug saves the step of having to replace the crush washer and risk a possible leak from the drain plug after replacement.

I still prefer the old fashion way, drain from oil pan, also I can drain the oil from my oil cooler why I'm at it. Allot of folks tend to forget about the oil cooler. besides, I don't mind getting dirty.

See this thread, esp. post #77 for comparison of top sider vs. drain plugs method. Short answer: top sider does NOT get all the oil out - you can decide if it gets enough out for you.

My philosophy is that gravity is your friend, unless your falling...LOL. Let gravity pull the oil out of the motor, I'm just not to keen on sucking it out, as you never get all of it, at least with gravity you get more, plus you need to drain the oil cooler as well, and you can't suck that out.

Engine Oil for C63
I like the idea of changing my oil more often than the 13,000 miles I've heard.
I look underneath the C63 and don't have a clue as to how the front end could be lifted to change the oil unless you were to use drive on ramps. Does the c63 have an easy capability to utilize a four post lift. Do you need special pucks on the end of the lifting points like Corvettes?
Any insight to this question is greatly appreciated.

Not to knock your philosophy, but how do you drain the oil cooler? If you are only draining it through the drain plug, you will get the same results sucking it out. The excess oil in the oil cooler will drain in the pan and be either be sucked or drained out, same difference.
Within the next month I will be doing my first oil change. I will use the mityvac.

Daniel,
If your manual is laid out similar to mine the next section after Rims and Tires is Fuels, coolants, lubricants, etc. In the left column you will see a heading Engine with oil filter then a column for Model and then a column for Capacity. Look down the Model column for C 63 AMG and under the Capacity column for the number of liters. In my manual it says 9.0 US qt (8.5l).
The Engine with oil filter, followed by Model and Capacity refers to the amount of oil required to fill the engine. I know they don't refer to the oil capacity directly you have to understand what they are referring to.
Cheers

I only drain the oil from the pan. My shop foreman who is an AMG Master Technician, told me not to forget the oil cooler. I said that you can't drain the oil cooler, he said wrong . The oil cooler has its own drain plug. I didn't know that fact. But the oil coolers in all M156 motors have a drain plug, and can hold some oil (how much, I don't know) but it doesn't drain back into the oil pan. The oil pump pushes the oil through the oil filter then down to the oil cooler and back to the engine.

Really, who cares about a couple cups worth of oil left in the engine? The C63 takes 9 freaking quarts. It'll be diluted by the new oil. And don't forget, the engine has a filter, there won't be a bunch of crud at the bottom of the pan, geez. If you're that worked up about it, its simple, don't bother, just go with the old school method. Regardless, even if you pull the pans out, you won't get all the oil out as there will be oil in the passages. These aren't race car engines.

I was just simply pointing something out, and it occurs to me, that people are just looking to start something in these threads. The minute that someone says anything, some *** is ready to jump down there throat. These forums are meant to help each other out. Not to start a fight. So if the shoe fits, you know the rest.

996tt Protomotive, C63
I agreed with Chubb.
1. This is oil cange thread. If everyone posts what he like in diff topics, it would be very messy.
2. I doubt if stock C63 would walk 996tt. 451hp C63 and 420hp 996tt with lot lighter body. I tried to recall when my 996tt was stock, sorry guys, I would say stock 996tt pulls harder than stock C63. (Unless driver made mistake.) For stock GTR, it is absolutely fast and less likely mistake as paddle shift.
PLease do not get me wrong, I love C63. I bought it for my wife. But since we had it, I've driven it nearly everyday and mostly left my mod 996tt parked. Last Sunday I tried to start the poor Porsche, battery was dead already. It tells me how special C63 is.
