But remember tire size will change the way ESP intrudes in your driving and sometimes the change in tire size can render the car useless since esp will think the car is slipping constantly. AMG might have changed the system since the C32 but tires on that car did cause serious problems when the rolling diam. was not kept consistent with stock.
I plan to run non staggered once I source out wider fenders. I ran 265/40/18 all around on the s2000, and the car handled like a beast on the track. For now I've just been running these sizes to keep as close to stock as possible.

Good looking out though I didn't know that the tire size could potentially affect the way ESP intrudes. I'll definitely look in to that once my wheels come in. Shouldn't be too much of a problem if I keep the overall diameter somewhere similar.

Would 245/265 fit on the stock C63 wheel without rubbing? I want to put some wider tires on the car because I feel that this car's stock rubber is insufficient compared to the competition. The M3 is running 245/265 and our C63 is only running 235/255.

245/265 will be no problem on a stock wheel.

Has anyone been researching the suspension and the geometry for this car? What is the maximum negative camber this can can take with 235 or 245 wheels up front?

The stock camber is -1.5. This will probably be the last tuner setup.
But I would be very interested to find out what turns up.
Like some Bilstein PSS10s

What do you mean by tuner setup? Is it possible to get more negative camber out of the stock suspension or would a camber plate be required?

Crap. I'm gonna have to behave here now. Hello "CyE55" !

Yes, the C63 DID see a few laps this weekend! I thought it would feel like a pig but I took it easy and was amazed at how balanced it felt. I only did about 4 laps since the oil temps crept up to 266 (ambient temp read 90 degrees) It was very stable and predictable and the brakes worked great! I still prefer a "real" track car but the C63 was pretty fantastic for a 4000lb sedan. These stock tires will not last a day on the track IMO. With just a few laps, the front left was feathering. Needs camber and better tires. And a 2000lb diet.

The car got a LOT of eyeball in the pits! Several people came up to say it was "gorgeous" and "can I drive your car?" I even let a fortunate few have the keys. How did you like it?

Maybe if you took that screw out of the front left it'll help a bit

The nail is still there... made it all the way back and still holding air! The wear must have been caused by all that speed I carried in Turn 1.

Paul, that is Spring Mountain...... a really great track, kinda far though.

Uhhhh... Turn 1 is a left hander, how did you get your left front to feather carrying that much speed in there? Were you going through it backward? I thought that method was reserved for me, as I so proficiently demonstrated on Sunday

Nice pics BTW

Only you racer guys call Ego Check Turn 1. For the rest of us wannabe's, Turn 1 is still the old Turn 1.... right hand hi speed sweeper

I've never seen you go backward. You go by too fast to tell though.

Hans
you were out there driving congrats!
Did you go back out after the oil temp came down?
Did you pay to take the C63 out? That would have sucked
to pay 100-200 and only get 4 laps.
I would be concerned that the oil temps would creep up after
only 4 laps at 90 deg. Heck thats going to be the ambient at
Willow or button willow May through Oct.
Whats the max oil temp for our cars?
I am kinda wondering if we dont need a aux oil cooler, and
MAYBE even a tranny cooler. Is there anyway to see tranny oil temps?

I didn't go back out in the C63 because I later noticed a screw/nail in my tire. (My "real" track car is in the pic above -- a 2004 Honda S2000 )
We are members at Spring Mountain so plenty of track time! It is really nice there now that they have a clubhouse and tower to watch the track. I had a GREAT time

I think anyone who tracks the C63 is going to be very happy with the car's behavior on the track. It is a fast car and balanced. I think as long as you are smooth with it, it is very predictable. As far as oil temps.... I'm not sure what MB/AMG would recommend. I know on my C5 Z06 I would get the oil temps up to the 290's then back off. I know guys who ran them over 300 degrees. That car did not even come with an oil cooler though! I have heard from the instructors at the Vette school that Mobil 1 synthetic is good for 300++ degrees, however "motor go BOOM" a lot sooner if you run it over 300 degrees for too long. The C63's oil temp seemed to stabilize in the 260's so it should be fine, really. Putting an oil cooler on the C5Z brought temps down to the 260s so that was considered safe for that motor. But the C63's tranny temps could be a concern. I don't think there's a gauge. One less thing to worry about while you're driving

Did you replace brake fluid for your C63 before you go?
Was there any brake fade in the C63?

I had the stock fluid. No brake fade at all BUT I didn't do that many laps. If I were really going to track the car, I'd replace the stock fluid since the car is so heavy.

Yes Paul, Spring Mountain is in beautiful Pahrump, NV

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an aftermarket strut tower brace for the C63? I ask this question because I was looking at some E9X M3 engine bays and noticed they come stock with strut tower braces while the C63 does not.

Yooker I was wondering the same thing. HOWEVER How in the hades would you connect the dang thing? in my old 993 TT it was easy to reach the two shock towers but in here??????
Dont forget you have to be able to CLOSE the bonnet. (Hood in America has some many different meanings especially with this election coming up)

Well the strut tower braces could be connected in a /-\ style similar to the M3's design
