pcmcia - pc card and hdd

A couple of years ago, Matt? Last I checked our '64s still had the 1970's memory technology in those DTCs or are you referring to the TEAC VCR monsters?. Just to think that I can go down to Best Buy and buy a $10 flash memory card that can hold more data than that DTC makes me grumble. The CAB is getting the new Block of Apaches and those come with PMCIAs too! Yay, we're only 15 years behind the power curve now!
Anyways, I digress.....did you pick up your AMG yet or is MB still dicking around with military pricing? I'm picking mine up in Dallas on Tuesday...dealer even going to pick me up at the airport! Can't wait!!!!

Just out of curiosity, if I have a SD slot in my phone and I can copy the phone numbers onto it then stick it in the pcmia adaptor will it work or do I have to do each one manually from Outlook?

S550V4 - 2009 Black on Black Loaded ! 06-M5-Silver/black ! 08-LX570 (Silver - Best SUV ever !)
Another example of MB stupidity ! - why need an adapter - just provide a slot for the SD-CF combo cards - Really ridiculous old technology !

You still need to save ur own MP3 music to an SD and a 4.7 GB DVD is much cheaper than a 4 GB SD or Compact Flash card any day of the week. Why bother with MP3 on SD when you can get 4.7 GB of MP3 on a single DVD... not sure I understand the use or advantage of the PCMCIA verses the DVD MP3. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

if you play your mp3 files from your pcmcia card, songs titles/artists/whatever info are shown on your command screen. and you can navigate through songs by using center console buttons. Its the only advantage over using Ipod.
At least, this is what happens in my dad's S class Mercedes, not sure if its the same in our C class.

I uploaded my music files to a SanDisk SDHC card (mp3) and have a SanDisk PCMIA adapter plugged into the car, but my Comand screen says when trying to read the SD card-
"There are no files available"
The songs are organized into folders by artist first, album second.
Any help?

The other thing to remember is that you can get Compact Flash to PCMCIA adapters and they can be even larger - for instance there are multiple on e-bay Australia for 32Gb it is $A100 ish - and the adapter is under $A20.. However not sure if there is any limitation in size that the COMMAND system will use... dont know if anyone has tried 32Gb before?...

This is what I am thinking also, is there anyway to know if the PCMIA is SDHC compatible because I heard the idiots at SanDisk used the same part/model number for both pre/post generations?

The ones that are compatible should state so on the adapter or in the documentation. The only other way to find out is to try a smaller capacity SD card in the adapter (Non-HC) and if that works and the SDHC doesn't you have your answer. I think there was a list of adapters and compatability with HC cards in a thread in the W204 forum.

Just to add to this is there anywhere I can see more info on what the COMAND can do? MP3? AAC? WMA? Can it read MP3's off of dual layer DVDs? Can it play XViD/DIVX?

I don’t even have one of those slots on my laptop... How would I update my music to the 32GB card??
So far recording to the SD has worked fine, but the recording process is painful at times...

Maan... I bought the PCMCIA USB adapter... and... it doesn't fit!!
The USB port iis too big and gets stuck by the volume button right above the PCMCIA adapter port!
If I were a PCMCIA adapter, this would be almost a sexual problem: I can't get totally inside!!

i tried that at first too. i just pulled the volume knob off. but even once you get it plugged in I couldnt get it to read the usb key. compact flash and an adapter is the only way ive been able to get it to work. also even once you do get it working im having problems with it cutting off some songs while playing. still trying to figure that one out.
