I'm not going to comment on that unless JK comes out to make an announcement of some sort. No point feeding the rumour mill...but I do believe you'd be well-advised to seek an alternate source for "getting a few things done in the future".

Hey David, this is Alex formally from advance. Yes, advance is finished as far as performance goes. The owner has decided to go a different route with his company.
Curtis and myself are in the process of getting our own performance+ maintenance shop set up. We have been scouting all over Burnaby for a location and so far have narrowed it down to 3 units. The goal is to set up shop before mid Feb as we already have many big jobs lined up. I will keep everyone posted as things progress.
I would like to apologize for any inconveniences and also would like to thank everyone who has supported us in the last couple weeks. It has been a real roller coaster ride for Curtis and myself.
Thanks,
Alex

Good stuff, Alex. Shame about Advance, as a lot of us are big fans of JK's and would love to see him do well.
All the best to you on your new endeavour, however, and please let us know your new coordinates once everything's set up.

Just had a few quick questions about radar detectors:
do any of you guys use one? do they work / are they reliable? what are some reliable brands to go with and what are the features i should look for in one? got caught by a radar gun from like a KM away it was impossible to see in the night

Me, I just prefer to stay low profile and always drive well within the speed limit.

Sebring indeed is correct, the radar detector of Valentine One has saved me many many times, just my 5200KM trip to the States and back it has saved me from more than 10 - 15 tickets
http://www.valentine1.com/
It has saved me so many times, and everything and once I had an issue with it, sent it back within 2 days I got mine back fixed and everything under warranty, you just had to pay for shipping. Also the way I look at the radar... if it has saved your *** once its worth it already.
The only other competition the Valentine has were the Escort one, which VR38GTR uses and he says its better but its more of an opinion... escort offers one where there are almost no false alarm.. but I have never used it.. If i remembered correctly its the 9500ix and it tells you where there are usually speedtraps + where the cameras are but there is a suscription fee to it if i remembered correctly.... I will probably try the 9500ix if my Valentine1 breaks... but honestly the Valentine1 should be your best bet.
Also Sebring, staying low profile doesnt mean exchanging a car from something you see in everyday life... to something like an exotic where teachers even crowd around your car to take pictures =).

i recommand ONLY getting it directly from them to ensure that you the most up to date hardware. Also, getting it from them directly will make it easier when the unit breaks or need any software updates.
