My brother, my wife both thought i was looney tunes, they thought i over did it in every way possible waiting for this car to arrive, let me remind you, that with all the obsessions i had, from viewing, reading and accumulating information on this car, it still never burst my bubble. When I arrived at the dealer as they called me that the car had arrived and they started it in the showroom(cold start), i nearly crapped my pants, Holy S#@T, it sounds like that?! Oh my, please let me drive this thing out, from the first time you throttle it and the downshifts in manual mode, you will not stop smiling, i have had this car since July and every waking minute i drive it, it still gives me the same exact feeling as I heard it the first time in the showroom, nothing does this car any justice than you bum in the seat. So, dont think you are overhyping this car and that some of this excitement will wear off when you first see it or drive it, it will never fade, in fact you will fall more in love with this car, it truly will become your second baby of the house(11mnth old boy is first in my house)

Yup, my wife thinks I'm a bit looney too! Way too many magazines, most of time on internet spent looking up C63 stuff, the Service Manager is my best friend , hundreds of pics downloaded, etc.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's good to hear that I'm not alone!

+10000000!!

It is a great all-around machine, and so much fun to drive. In addition to the sound and speed, it also handles amazingly well.

Nice, how about a quick video?

Did you remove any of the cats?? I'm thinking that I want to remove both sets of cats and the resonator, but I would like to hear a few results first before I spend a bunch a money. (Also I need to watch for CEL issues with the cats..not sure if this is a valid concern or not)

Lastly, for those of you up in the colder sections of the country who didn't get much drive time when it was warm, I've noticed the sound is much better with the sunroof up (not back). Even though it's bitter cold up here in PA, I pop it up just to hear the exhaust better

I am with you on the popping up the sunroof as I drive around, yes it is cold right now, but thats why this car comes with a heater(a good one to), my wife thinks I belong in a "get help" institute

nope, i was, but removing the cats will defintely get you in trouble with the cops, plus, its gonna be wayyy too loud. If you wanna keep it really growling but still nice i recomend just taking out just the resonators. Trust me, you wont regret it...

I feel you. I am doing the exact same thing. It's crazy how often I am on this site. If I don't go on at least once a day I feel something is not right.

I'm about as technically handy as maybe being able to check the tire pressure with a manual guage....

Is removing the resonators something the MB service dept. can do w/o much time/expense...and generally the same to have them put back on if need be?

I didnt do it myself either, charged me 100 bucks to do the job at a near muffler shop. It takes around 45 mins and you can always put the resonators back on at some point in the future.

chubbs032,

1/12/08 where 1 = 1st decade or 1st 10 days of the month. 12 = December etc.
Though I just got the call that the car finished production today. Now waiting for info about shipping, which I hope (pray!) will happen within the next 1 week. This waiting business sucks bigtime but I'm told patience is a virtue ....so serenity now...and insanity later??

It really is quite hard waiting for a car like this. I just had a nightmare last night about it. In this 'nightmare' I had received the car and was at home showing it to friends and family but the exhaust was almost completely inaudible. I almost had to have everyone quiet down to barely hear it. I was even more shocked that even when accelerating the exhaust was soo quiet...like a V12 at idle! I hated the car. I guess this sort of goes to show how much the exhaust sound is an integral part of this car and big part of the reason for my purchase. Me thinks I am slowly going crazy

Hahahahahahaha I am assuming you had your pillow covering your ears during sleep.. I do that a lot! And I also assume in my dreams that people are inaudible! It's pretty funny actually

This car is freakin loud, I have had other cars with headers full exhuast etc, and this thing seems louder....the first reaction I get from friends or people in general after I rev it a bit is "there is no way that car is stock" or "what kind of aftermarket exhaust did you get"...Hey Fishtailinz, in Dallas did you not think the C63 was the loudest of the bunch, only slightly louder was the SL63. That was the impression of the group I was with.

Oh I agree 100% - the SL63 was a bit louder and a touch deeper toned, but not a whole hell of a lot! Both sang sweet V8 baritones that was pure music to the ears!

You guys are getting me all excited again about the exhaust noise...and probably gonna drive me off the deep end as I wait in nail biting anticipation.

I know I'm pushing my luck... (mental-health-wise)........ but, how loud does it sound from inside the car with all windows closed? and the same but with the sunroof tilted up? How about compared to a CLS55 or SL55? As those last two are the closest I've driven and I thought the CLS55 (I really loved the sound) seemed louder than the SL55

There was also the issue/rumour? of the first batch of like 1000 SL55s being louder than the later batches? Hopefully this is not the case witrh the C63.
