AMG Performance Package (030)
Such as would you order it again? Is the suspension too harsh as is
mentioned in some site reviews and on this forum?
I am not planning to track but the LSD sure does sound nice.
Appreciate it very much.
for the canadian owners that have the performance pkg, what exactly did it come with?
the website says this: (whats the in the third item?)
AMG Performance Package
# Electronic Speed Limiter Deletion
# Limited-Slip Rear Differential
# Performance Package
-LSD
-AMG Performance Suspension
-Compound Brakes (Drilled & Slotted)
-First stage top speed limiter removed
-Alcantara steering wheel
CF trim is now an option instead of being included in the performance package.
arent brakes on the non PP equipped cars already cross drilled?
so for the pp they slot them as well? are the rotors any bigger?
and what exactly do they do to the suspension?

Yes the suspension is stiffer, and only becomes a slight problem over really bad roads. Otherwise the PP springs, which are about 10% stiffer, are really great. It really changes the character of the car. Just feels a little more racy than the standard car, IMO.
I measured both standard and PP cars at the dealership, and it is negligable, no difference in ride height.

For anyone who has never owned a peformance car with performance suspension then you probably will find it harsh.
One huge problem I have is the brakes squeal like a train all the time, so I'm hoping that is just from the cold temperature or the break in time.

Just an FYI: I have 4200klm on mine to date and my brakes have been whisper quiet in all weather extremes. I do drive in "M" 95% of the time so I am not always on the brakes though...

I just laughed a little and told her this is a performance car first and I'm fine with the ride compromise for the handling benefit. I find that at slower speeds it is a more noticeable than at higher speeds. Once you get the car going at 80 mph+ the PP suspension really starts to come into it's own. I am still considering installing KW V3 coilovers on the car and am trying to find out how the stiffness of than suspension compares to the PP springs/shocks, but if I do that it will be more for lowering than anything. If I get better handling with an improved ride, that will be a nice bonus. My primary reason for the getting the PP was the LSD, two piece rotors and steering wheel. The top speed increase was a moot point as I was having my ECU redone from day 1 and that was going to let my C63 go well over the 174 mph offered by MB.
The PP springs do make a difference in the handling of the car, but it is at the cost of a firmer ride.Mike

The goal here is to create a uniform deposit of pad material on the rotors and to level the pads to the rotor surface. I follow this procedure after any brake pad change and have always found it to quiet even noisy pads and provide the best stopping performance for any given brake system.
BTW, I did not invent this process, but learned it from a brake system guru.

As for the break, it's a bit tough to do that with the roads icy and all the snow up here right now.
It's really embarassing really, this AMG benz pulls up and everyone is wondering where the hell the old train or bus is that is making such squealing noise with its brakes.

was kind of hoping they've made it an option later on..
