Any recommendation for light-alloys?

Hallo everyone,

I was wondering if any of you have fitted or know any aftermarket wheels which fit the C 63?! I'm in search for an ultra-light alloywheel set to replace my 19" stock. Volk-Racing or Yokohama Advan series is fine as long as the offsets are a match, but I haven't found any manufacturer yet. I guess the aftermarket replacement market for the C-class ain't hot as the bimmers.

My real hope and wish, is to get a set of ultraleggera's in 18 or 19. Any advice or info would be thankful!

Have a great weekend.

EK

Tirerack.com. Same width all around for Ultras, though.

You will probably get bombarded with PM for your 19" OEM, or you can sell them for $10,000!

Thanks for the reply. but I need wider ones on the rear for sure. Great wheels the Ultras are... aren't they?

The 19" multi-spoke are forged one-piece, aren't they? Can you really find other 19's that are as strong and light (or lighter)?

If it's in the budget, you probably can't beat Dymag's for strength/weight. Otherwise, maybe HRE's?

KLEEMANN TS6 / Carlsson 1/14 RS

I have always liked the Kleemann TS6's and Carlsson 1/14 RS wheels. I seriously considered both of these as well as the OEM AMG 16 Spoke before my car arrived. Went with the OEM in the end.

(Thanks to Kleemann.dk and Carlsson.de for the images)

Yeah, you're damn right. They're forged. I think HRE is the answer to my thread. (I wouldn't mind fitting Yokohama ADVAN's)

I was kidding, but someone here will surely pay more than what they are worth, with rubber, if you are to order them from Mercedes, your paying more than 6,000.00, unless of course you have a few contacts.

As a side note to this discussion, what are the weights of the factory 19s? Based on that we might be in a better position to suggest options that weigh less.

I heard the new HRE C90's are real light..even in 20's.

Talk to Peter @ Wheel Experts!

I'm planning to replace my tires soon. I'll get a weight to weigh the wheel, front and rear separately. It'd be great if anyone else with the 19" do this earlier, if possible. I might replace the wheel then...

I was thinking of swapping them with 18" for a surcharge. 'cause I still need winters here in Korea. Since the release in Sep '08, there's about 100x C 63's here in Korea YTD, so hopefully someone will be interested.

I think some of the recently released new Yokohama forged alloys are pretty light and strength wise strong too. (unlike the previous products which were relatively weak)

As for HRE 20's, it may be the tire selection which are quite limited and leave me out of consideration (along with the +weight of the tires). I think 18" is better in terms of overall drivablity and even for the suspension durability itself. The only reason I op'ed for the 19"s is the looks. (stock 19" are width wise same as the stock 18", 19x 8J front and 19x 9x rear respectively.)

Not sure if you ordered a set yet, but we got a set from CCW Wheels here in Daytona Beach, FL. John is a real good guy to work with, and has numerous styles. The fit is perfect and very ligth weight. Only using the rears for drag racing. Hope this helps.... www.ccwheel.com
