C63 with the skin peeled back
I got this in the shop today and am in the process of tearing the engine/tranny/front suspension out to repair the unibody. I though some might like to see what a 63 looks like naked.

The car appears to have run up on a curb or hit something hard enough to bottom out big time, break the rim and it shoved the strut tower up and buckled the upper rail. I love the C63 but after tearing the motor out of it today it's upsetting to see how cheap M-B has gotten on a lot of its parts/designs for the 204 body. I'll post a couple pics with the motor out by tomorrow hopefully.

Here's a couple quick pics, I'll post up a couple more in a week or so when I have it on the frame bench and the parts arrive so I can do the bodywork.

The plastic cover over the radiator support that breaks 90% of the time when removing, the stupid plastic caps on the center of the strut tower, the headlights, the steering shaft, the weak strut towers, the little plastic "rod" for the suspension angle sensor, the bumper design/mounting. Also the 204 body's build is VERY similar to most BMWs...............if you blindfolded me and asked me to take off the bumpers and/or told me how they come apart I would tell you it was a BMW hands down. The hood and it's weight is also rediculous as I have 2 new E92 M3's and both of their(aluminum) hoods together weigh less than the C63's hood. I could go on but that's all I can think of off hand. To throw in a few positives I love the C63's front seats and wonderful sounding engine...........especially compared to the M3's.

You are in Vegas? What shop is it in? I was in a shop last month and they had a CLS63 with RF susp damage from hitting a curb or deep pothole. It bent the subframe where the lower control arm mount and collapsed the RF lower rail at a crush zone. The last pic with the car hoisted almost looks like it is the shop I was at (NE corner of shop).
If I were the owner of the car, I would have had the exhaust manifolds replaced with headers since you already R&I'd the motor.
As for the weight of the hood, hopefully MHP will remedy that.

So what happens to the car? Will it get a new body and everything gets moved over or is this a salvage title and you guys are recouping parts? Very interesting stuff! Take more rip apart pix as you go along, they will be useful at some point!

The car is being repaired, I cut out the old strut tower and upper rail today and welded in all the new parts. The engine will go back in tomorrow and I'll replace all the bad suspension parts at that time. I already had the new bumper painted and put it together, it just needs to be put back on the car and she'll be good as new. There will be NO salvage title............but it will show up as being in an accident if you carfax the car now.
