Pirelli customer service

So like many of the board members here, my OEM rear tires are pretty much toast. I might take the prize for lowest mileage since they are bald after only 2600 miles.

I have been researching other tire options and since my fronts have 80% of the tread left I decided to give Pirelli a call. I talked to a customer service rep there and asked if 2600 miles of life was to be expected for the Pzero. He told me that the tires should not wear out that fast and had me go to the nearest authorized retailer. (Discount Tire) I went to Discount Tire and they inspected the tires, called Pirelli and I'm getting a new pair of rear tires, 100% covered by Pirelli! I must say I'm impressed by the customer service.

Just thought I'd pass it along in case anyone else wants to give it a shot.

I am shocked. That seems like a gift.

Its a very soft tire designed for grip not for tread life.

The car has 255 rear tires and 450+ hp. Tires wont last very long if you ever use the gas.

You are lucky. That wont happen twice.

As I stated, I was impressed that they stepped up and offered 100% coverage on two new tires. If anything, I was expecting a partial credit. I could understand 2600 miles if I did a burnout from every traffic light, but I'm not driving it like that. I have never had a set of tires wear out faster than 8000 miles unless I was tracking them. (And that includes the gamut of high performance tires on many high power cars. AMGs, BMW Ms, Porsche, etc.)

hmm... interesting. i'll make sure to call Pirelli when I need tires. Did the discount tire store scratch up any of the rims when they put the new tires on? I hate it when the tire people don't care about rims and scratch the crap out of them putting on new tires.

or calipers....both my front calipers had slight scratches in them after switching to 19"s. I can sorta understand though since they only clear the spokes by 3/8".

Good job Mike.
You should try the Corsa's, R compound, 60 tread rating but I've got 4,000 miles on mine. (Yes, they're shot.)

Of course, you've got all that extra torque!
