puff of smoke
have had my car for a month now; put on 800 miles; today noticed a small amt of a puff of white smoke on start up after lunch; is this normal; my previous p cars did that but it had to do with the type of engine it had; anyone with similiar occurrance?

If you are referring to the Teutonic Cloud Of V8 Power then yes I get that from time to time. Last week was the last one. Wife asked what the hell that was. I just teared up a little and contemplated the majesty that is the 6208 cubic centimeters of displacement in our engines.

Haven't seen any puffing as of yet... usually I'm in a well lite garage and nada.
What I did notice on several 2008 models in the beginning of last summer when I was visiting dealers. I did notice several cars with large puff of smoke after start-up, which I thought was kinda strange. BTW... my car is not driven everyday so oil/fuel would have time to settle into the cyclinders, if that was the case... then it would puff out after start-up. I don't really know why that is happening to you...

It could go away after about 10k miles but my 39k mile old SL55 still does this nice trick but it never uses any oil.

My 95 C36 has over 103k miles andwhenitsreally cold out I start it in the morning. A small amount of very light blue smoke comes out. But the engine doesnt burn any oil and runs like a champ. I guess its normal for these AMG engines.

I get lots of smoke every time I hit the gas, but I think it's coming from somewhere below and maybe a few inches in front of the exhaust tips ... strange ...
