Stupid question

Ok. just like the title says this is a wierd question.
How does c63 amg drive in the snow with snow tires on?

thinking about getting this car or M3. I know M3 does good in snow with snow tires on but idk about this one ( too powerful maybe?)

Thank you for your time!

A C63 with snow tires performance better than RS4 with summer tires(or maybe all-season tires) in snow, except taking off from a stop. Both cars with snow tires will be a different story.

IMO, its the tires that matter the most in snow.

I drive my '09 C63 in Pittsburgh weather (ice & snow). With winter tires & wheels the ability to drive through snow & ice is fair (my prior E55 with a similar outfit actually handled a little better). It is indeed difficult to drive uphill given the torque (even in C mode). I've added 2 60 lb bags of sand in the trunk to weigh down the back--that helps a little.

O, and don't cheap out and buy winter tires for your OEM wheels. You'll regret bending the rims or creating scuffs (love those potholes).

My S4 with summer tires is better in the snow than my C63 with snow tires is in the snow.

That's interesting. The only car I've ever crashed was my S4 with summer tires on in the snow. I thought Quattro was invincible

And therein lies the folly of many Audi drivers...thinking that Quattro is invincible.

Seriously though, I do think awd makes a big difference in snowy conditions, just as tires also are a contributing factor. On ice, however, I'd rather be sitting at home.

my friend never had a problem driving his C63 in snow. as long as you have your snow tires on and not all season you should be good aswell.

its just that snow tire is a bigger factor.

I don't drive my C63 in the snow, but i do drive a Honda Odyssey(FWD) in the snow with blizzak snow tires, it has better performance/handling in the snow than a range rover with all season tires, except maybe accelerating on ice/snow roads.

It drives great. I've done it quite a bit this winter. Definately much better than my FWD Audi A3 with all seasons! WAY better! Any car can do great with snow tires.

I hav yet to put snow tires on any of my cars, but I will for sure this time around.

My biggest mistake was never understanding the difference a winter tire can make, but Ive learned that doing my research on the forums.

I currently have a range rover sport with all seasons and i got stuck in snow in vermont last year during a storm. To say the least, it was very embarrassing when my buddies with a W203 C class and Jeep cherokee with snows were clearing a path for me to get out! I still havent heard the end of that one...

that being said, what have people found to be the best snow tire for the C63 while also factoring in cost?

If price is a factor, try the Hankook IceBear W300 snow tire.

Surprisingly good traction, at a very reasonable price.

My porsche cayman S runs ok with snow tires unless I get like 10" snows...
Since C63 has so much more torque than Cayman S so that was the only thing I was worrying about... But looks like its ok with snow tires! =)

I have been driving my C63 since I picked it up in December with Bridgestone Blizzaks on stock rims.

It works great with the combination of the ESP and C mode in the transmission to handle a real winter... a Winnipeg winter

The only time I was scared was this week when we had freezing rain pour down for about 1 day straight, same day it shut down our airport due to bad conditions, otherwise it has been great.

Having been on Pirelli SottoZeros for the most part of winter here in Toronto where we get Winnipeg like winters the only downside of driving anything with wheels or even walking with your rubber shoes is that once you have "black rain" aka freezing rain, no chain, winter tire, or blade is going to stop you, but other than that, this car loves the snow!

What about Good Year F1 All Season tire? Ever research on that? It has a 400 tread life, last long time, and works well in wet and dry. Look at it and the tread pattern, maybe that will do you. I have never driven in snow or slush so no clue how that will be but it says its high performance all season tires. I use them. works well for me on the dry pavment with the once in a while wet pavement for the water sprinklers gone wild and spraying the road.
