Calling on guys with 19" aftermkt wheels
for those of you guys who have gone through the process of getting 19's i have a bunch of questions...
maybe UGOTMOPPED can chime in since i think youve gone through 4 sets already it seems....(believe u had 20's)
Im currently looking at 360 forged wheels and my questions are about the lip sizing - i read once b4 that the c63 cannot hav too big a lip, is this true? the 360 forged wheels have HUGE lips but I personally dont want them that wide, but I dont want them that thin either...
and those guys that got wheels with lips, did you do a staggered lip set-up? I was thinking a 1.5" up front with a 3" lip in the rear, BUT im not sure since our fenders are flared in the front and not in the back (not sure if it would look mis-matched) - any guys with pictures of a staggered lip set-up please post it...thanx in advance

Trust me..like you said..I have had 19" and 20" on this car..more sets than I should have gotten. I have KWv3 suspension on now with the HRE 20x9 and 20x10 Monoblocks with an et39 and et51. SLIGHT SLIGHT rub on the rear passenger. I am going to have the rear lining trimmed back a little. But the reason why I got the monoblocks, is yes...because the offsets are so high on this car...to get a respectable size lip is out of the question. 19"s in my opinion are the best size for the car. More comfortable, and with the drop/or without...won't be as hard on your azz. Here are some pics of wheels I have had..
The black Donz...offered the biggest lip..trust me, the 360 will offer the same as the Donz..the HRE's are more conservative..and well..I added the others in for good measure.

looking at those DONZ you have, it looks like you have the same lip width on the front and the rear, is that correct?
I was hoping to stagger the lip widths, 1.5" in front and 3" in the rear.

The Donz widths are staggered...20x9 and 20x10...There was a like a 3" in rear and 2" in front..Going to be very hard to get a nice staggered lip on this car...even the difference between 3 and 1.5 is minimal....

thanks for the input - i have an email in to wheels experts to get some pricing
the reason i want 1.5 in the front is because I dont like too wide a lip in the front
I see your in NYC as well, if theres a local place you get your wheels at that can be competitive in pricing on 360 forged please PM me the info..id love to do this locally as opposed to having them shipped to me

Peter at Wheel Experts will hook you up for sure. Also check into Donz..they have tons of new styles....and also make a lot of private label items. I have a bunch of pics if you give me ur email address.
personally..i like the HRE Comp Series in 19"... Slam the car, and call it a day!

I heard all the Miami based wheel companies come from the same shop. Maybe 360's don't? Who knows. The center caps on my wheels are exactly like the 360 caps. At least you won't have to deal with the crappy 360 customer service...so there's a plus.

Ive been thinking about doing wheels for a while, but like on my c230, i have 19" Avus forged on it, it really slowed the car down ( more than it allready was ). So since im not a big expert on wheels, i would like to ask, is there any company with a set of nice looking wheels, that sells a set that would add little or no additional weight from stock to aftermarket?

BEFORE you go drop MORE money on 19" tires, remember that 19" tires are going to be more money every time you rip through a set of rears. A 19" rear for a 911 is $540.
I dont like that number at all considering my rears are gone on my C63 at 2500 miles.
Do you want to increase the amount of money you throw away on rears?

yea im reading up on the 360 issues...its too bad, i just love the mesh 8's, but i guess the HRE 890r's are very similar...
now a basic question...is this a correct assumption?
if you take two different wheels with the exact same width and offset, will they fit exactly the same?
what im getting at is, if you choose, say a 10" rear wheel as opposed to a 9" wheel, do you need to adjust the offset to make sure it sits the same under the fender?

Getting 20's on this car would be a serious mistake, one which I have made in the past with a different car. 19's are perfect size, getting 20's will only "look" good but will actually hinder the vehicles overall performance abilities.
