I voted "Confused as to which vendor...", altho I'm not really confused -- just trying to decide b/n 2 reputable companies, one which is around the corner (but more $$) and the other which is a bit further away (but significantly less $$).

Perfectly good vote in my book. Best of success on your decision.

Germany should have vendors that does ECU tunes which are available for your car right? Don't have to send your ECU overseas to get tuned...

By the way, I purchased manifolds and an ECU tune today. Should have my car in about 1 week and will post my impressions once I have it back. I've spent a great deal of time and diligence on which vendor to select.

Keep up the votes.

No point in getting more power without solving the problem of putting it to the ground.

none of the above - am waiting until it's warm enough to flog the car properly for the first 40-60 miles to set adaptation. I'm running on winter rubber in 25f degree weather - kind of pointless.

However - April, MHP here we come!

I will say that I've seen reputable tuning vendors charge as low as $1,500 for an ECU tune. Again, I won't name names in this thread, and I very much appreciate that this thread has been stripped of vendor names.
Sorry to correct you taylor, however, if supply increases then price will drop. If they make more and more then it's cheaper to make in a bundle which in case will drop the price. Increasing quanitity demanded will not drop the price but will increase the price. The company has to match the quantity demanded which will cost them more to make.

Re-read what taylorcoleman wrote: "as the quantity demanded (...) falls, the price will fall."

You stated "increasing quantity demanded will not drop the price but will increase the price"

I think you perhaps misread what he wrote...

No apologies necessary. I believe from an economics perspective, my point is accurate.

I submit, however, that "if supply increases, then price will drop" is incomplete. I cannot agree or disagree with this statement unless knowing the demand side of the equation. Supply may be increasing because demand is increasing -- price may be staying the same, dropping, or increasing depending on the microeconomics.

Economics is not my expertise, but I think I'm not misrepresenting the above.

For me two things.

Price is Way too high.
Warranty Issues.

I will wait hopefully until a vendor comes out with a flash tuner via ports that allows me to use an upgraded tune when I want, then flash back to stock for dealership trips.

I want to mod the C63, but if vendors don't become realistic with pricing, I will stick to tracking my 03 Cobra.

I see, "Concerned about warranty issues" is now topping the list. This was a big concern for me as well. So, I spoke to my MB dealer and confirmed that although they don't install or resell any aftermarket tuning products, as long as the brand is reputable, and as long as what's being done is modest (such as an ECU tune and headers), no problemo.

So anyone on the fence because of this concern, why not talk to your MB dealer and find out their temperamant.

When I start bored with the car, I will think to change/improove it instead of buying something else

Does ECU tune and other modifications increase a value of the car on the market? Definitely it becomes pricier.
But from other side, if I was shopping for Honda Civic, I would afraid to buy it with modifications, because the car might be killed by an owner.

I have to disagree here. It may be more pricey for a comparable tune on a different vehicle. But many, if not most of us will pay 1250 for an LSD, no problem. $1500 for 60 hp is a relative bargain. Not just HP. Torque, powerband, top speed limiter, etc. all improved. If it was an option on the order list, I would have selected it. That's why I got the C63 instead of the C300!

Anyone ever hear of anyone being denied warranty/service for an ECU tune? 2nd cat delete? I've asked my service advisor about both, and was told no on both counts. I'm thinking I'll do it anyway and try my luck at another dealer.

Depends on which brand you get. Renntech usually will be accepted by dealers. I've asked around and some will take Kleeman as well. But those are the only two that will be accepted.
