My guess is I've got another 3-4K before I need to replace them. For reference my rear Pirelli's were shot by 5,700 miles.
Wow, 7-8,000 will be an improvement. How do you compare the Pirelli's to the F1s in performance?

I think they grip better. Slightly more tire noise during the first 2K miles, after that no noticeable difference. The Pirelli is a little softer, not much. The F1's don't feel like an A/S tire. I've had Continental ContiSport (I think that's the name) on an M3 and they rode like an A/S tire- harsher ride, noisier and not as grippy as a summer tire.

I hope they don't start to grain all a sudden. I walked up on the car from the rear yesterday and the degree of camber on the rear tires is awesome...GOOD THING. Which normally means inside wear....BAD THING. I haven't noticed any uneven wear yet, keeping my fingers crossed.

PS: 255/45/18, and 275/40/18 for me please.[/quote]

Just curious why the size difference? Advantages/disadvantages?

Thanks, would be interested in how the next couple of thousand miles go. Keep us posted. Might be my first tire replacement. BTW, you have a serious garage.

I'll post the next few K miles. When the Pirelli's wore down it didn't don on me to check the tires I thought I was having a suspension failure. I almost lost it on the highway in the rain and the light went off....you need tires !! I was down to the threads, talk about scary. I had been babying her anticipating the rear breaking loose. When I saw how bad they were I knew I was waaaay beyond lucky.

LOL on the garage. Trying to move the F430 and pretty sure the Vette is gone too. The wife wants a ML or GL and I don't get to drive them much AND the C63 is almost as fun to drive as the F430 believe it or not. Kinda a pain to have in the back of my head "What if.." everytime I take it out. My wife went to a drive through yesterday AM in the Vette and a guy backed into it while she was in the drive-thru (minor scratch) but if it was the F430 I would be crying bloody murder.

Land of the Terrapin, what part of MD? I moved out of DC a few years ago.

The F430 is not allowed to go through drive-throughs. Funny, but my wife always seems to cause bodily harm to our cars. Never her fault of course. Last month a large gray fox or a small gray-haired man ran into the side of our MDX and crushed the driver's side door. She never stopped to see the damage.

I'm in Ellicott City---a UMCP alum.
