Tire costs - Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season
Exact mileage at tire change was 5,207 miles.
Fronts are fine and don't need to be changed yet.
I'm hoping to get at least 20-25k out of the new rears.
No burnouts for me. "C" mode is plenty fine.
Hwtheric1 you may wanna think about getting the front too. I just had them return my front and am keeping in case of emergency. I've heard that different treadon the axles can have a negative effect on tire wear.
20K on the rears is quite optimistic, car has TOO much torque even driving in C mode. A realistic number is probably 10-12K (12K expect to be seeing threads). Don't wanna be a wet rag but ya gotta include rear rubber in the 09 budget. LOL.
was anyone worried about losing some grip/performance?
Just took her in for Service A and the tech told me I was down to 2/32nd on the tread and the rears only have about 4,000 miles on the GY A/S and I haven't been pushing her alot since I got the new rubber. Admittedly I blew the dealer off figuring he was just trying to get more $$ for a tire job that they would overcharge for. The car hasn't been sliding like it did with 5,800 on the rear stock Pirelli's.

If I still had the C32 or a C63, then I would CERTAINLY consider them

Sorry OP, just wanted some foood for thought out there
You will NEVER see 20-25K on a set of performance tires, unless you drive like a grandma. AND then they will still wear out do to fact that they are a softer rubber, as they are STILL a PERFORMANCE tire.
Try looking for some ALL season, treadwear 450+ if you truely want that milage. But don't say I didn't warn you, as then they will light up at the lightest tap on the gas pedal
which will wear them out again. No free lunch in the world of performace cars my friends. AKA it's the price of admision

1. A TRUE summer sport tire is made of fairly soft rubber to give you GREAT traction on DRY asphalt, hence they do not last past 10,000 miles typical
2. A TRUE winter ONLY tire is made of EXTREMELY soft rubber to give traction on a FROZEN surface. Hence if you ride them during HOT weather they to wear out VERY fast.
3. A ALL season tire is a mixed compromise of the both from above. Since they do not have to be SOFT for ONLY winter driving, and they are made harder for summer driving, their treadwares tend to be the highest around 400+
Down side is they are truly a compromise for ALL driving types. Not theat good in summer, and not that good in winter. Their MAJOR plus is they are multi purpose and DO tend to last longer than either of the above.
Chech out http://www.tirerack.com/tires/dg/MenuServlet?search=tdg
It will give a good start for selection. NOTE: I do not beleive tirerack is always right my friend

But they are a good source of information

Note: I took the liberity of doing the search for a E63, all season TW was 420, Summer TW 300, MAX summer TW 180-220. Get the point

Oh yeah, if you have a NTB store around you, or even Sears they will MATCH tireracks prices. Atleast here in PA.
Good luck

My guess is I've got another 3-4K before I need to replace them. For reference my rear Pirelli's were shot by 5,700 miles.
