After reading all the threads on restoring a detuned C63 (451 bhp) back to its full potential (520+ bhp) with just a ECU flash (no other upgrades like headers, pulleys, etc), I would like to find out the following performance characteristics of a tuned C63:
1) Can a tuned C63 (flash ECU) keep up with a stock E63 at high end (80+ mph) with a more restrictive exhaust system (2.5 in pipe vs. 2.75 in pipe, respectively)? I am sure the C63 is better off line (0-60 mph, due to 400-500 lbs light weight advantage) but a few tests showed the C63 fell behind from a running start race (from 50 - 120 mph).
2) Is the C63 only better at low-end (from 0-80mph) range? A couple of videos on Youtube is showing E55 and M3 DCT outruned a C63 on 'running start' race (50 to 150 km/h). looks like the C63 is running out of juice at high end. I had a 2002 M3 before and it was great at standstill to 60 mph. When the M3 (333 bhp) was traveling at 70mph, a 1996 C4 Corvette (330 bhp) and a 2000 C5 Corvette (350 bhp) just ate me alive from 70 mph on. Basically, the stock 2002 M3 is pretty gutless at high end comparing to other high performance cars.
Just want to know more about the C63 performance characteristic before I get the C63 as my next car. Am I getting a 0-60 sprinter or a well rounded performance car?
Any insights will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...Zhecks

Sounds like a pretty good tuned. I just hate to see a M5 or M6 passing me on high end (or even mid range).
Is your C63 just ECU flashed or does it also have upgrades like, headers, pulley, etc.
thanks
