Painted reflector question?

technically modifying your car's lighting equipment specially the ones that provide early warning such as reflectors is always illegal.
but will the cops notice it and give you a ticket just for that? most likely no.

Do a lot of people have the painted ones from evosport? has anyone had any problems with tickets?
It doesnt seem any worse to me then the other things everyone does to their cars like no cats, dark tint, clear corners, lowering. all those are not legal but no one cares.

No, not at all. I just installed clear reflectors last week to replace the amber ones. But you should know that you're risking a ticket (a small risk I think) if you are ever pulled over since your car wouldn't be street legal technically. You also might fail your state inspection depending on how strict your inspector is.
But I would still totally do it.

Get the ones from Evosport and save your old ones if your that worried about it. That's what I did. My guess is the worst you will get is a fix it ticket if you get anything at all. Then just pop in the stock ones go get sign off to take care of the ticket, go home and put the painted ones back on.
It's the same thing with the front plate. You can go without it. If you get the fix it ticket, put some double sided tape on the bracket, mount the plate, get sign off then take it off again. You may have to pay a few fines now and then and go through a little pain of getting sign off but the odds of it happening often are not great and well worth it even if it does as both totally ruin the look of the car.

there is nothing worse than US Dot making us hav amber reflectors in front -
anyone who has replaced them probably winces at the cut out in the bumper when removed
is it illegal, yes? will u get pulled over for it? Never...the only fix it tickets one really needs to worry about are tints and no front plates. No way cops know to pull people over for this. Even if they did its worth the risk, those amber reflectors are hideous
i had the evosport markers on both my e46's and they were great...the C63 ones are no different...they are OEM so fitment is not an issue, they even sand down the numbers on it and the paint is a perfect match
(only question, maybe someone from evosport can answer, I did not get the backing/housing, only the reflector...i thought it came with both)

I think evo does a great job with their products. I just can't justify paying 3x as much for the painted reflectors versus the clear ones on eBay. If they ever drop their price to like $85 shipped, I'm in.

Yea cops rarely pull you over for a fix it ticket...although with this economy and the bail out it's hard to tell.
However a couple weeks ago I did get pulled over for no front liscence plate. Cop ran it through the computer with my driver's liscence and registration....and then came up and talked to me about my car and let me go after.
