Caring too much what people think
Hey guys,
I posted my new wheels to a thread last Friday. The negative comments came in like crazy. After about 14 of them, being topped off by a guy calling my car a "clown car" and not only dissing my wheels, but my painted diffuser, I deleted the thread. I thought to myself "I don't need to hear any more negative comments after spending $6,000 on wheels and tires. I got what I wanted and I like what I got."
Funny thing is that I have not stopped getting complements from people locally since getting them installed. I know I personally care too much about what people think, so this exercise has only helped... Do what you want to your car, enjoy and appreciate it, and don't care if others don't like it...

wheels are one of the most subjective aspects of cars. Forgiatos are one of the more non-traditional designers so you'll get more criticism. Bottom line is if you're happy with them, that's all that matters.

I think I remember the thread he is talking about, and I def remember posting a negative comment... That could have even been me who made the "clown car" statement, sounds like something I would say haha...
Anyway, I just want to apologize for my negative comments, especially if they offended you. That was not my intention; However, you must expect negative comments when you post something like that. If I remember correctly you have a Red C63 with Chrome/Red wheels? If I am correct, all I can say is that those are DEF not the type of wheels you put on a Mercedes AMG... BUT that’s my opinion ONLY. Do not take it personally.
Other people who do not know much about cars, or even about the C63 specifically may like it when they see your car in person. Where compared to the forum members here who have seen HRE's and Carbon Fiber wheels on a C63 and that is what we compare them too, not to mention we have many pictures side by side which overall can lead to criticism very easily because your car is being compared to others with more expensive and higher quality wheels...

I'm yet to see them but my brother and his girlfriend saw them on your car in-person and thought they looked awesome. I was waiting for you to post them, I must of missed it. Shoot me a pic if you get a moment, I'd love to see your car. Sometimes pictures don't do justice and you really need to see it with your own eyes. But like you said, "Do what you want to your car, enjoy and appreciate it, and don't care if others don't like it..."

Here's a picture of the ridiculous clown wheels. Only an *** idiot would buy these. What are you on crack? No one should put those on an AMG.
I wish DaGS1800 no ill will. I just think maturity says if you don't like something, you can say "not my taste", like a few did. I don't care how much I don't like something, I don't jump on a thread multiple times and be that direct. I think if you got enough money, buy and drive what you want and enjoy it. If you don't like it, know that it takes all types to make this world go around...

anyway why do you care what people say, do you like the rims thats all that maters,

However, those things... on a C63... for $6k... why?

I'm a modding fool so I know not everyone will like my choices for MY car, especially when I present it on the internet...so thick skin is needed since the internet is full of opinions. You have to live with it and it is your money so the only opinion that really matters is yours.
With that said, my issue with your choice is that I feel that the C63 is real all around performance car (moreso than my E55 or the SL65) that you can throw around (like the CLK63 BS) and the rims you chose don't fit that vibe. However, if you never drive like that and it's mainly for show...go for it.
