Trouble installing new Chrome door pins!!

From a previous recommendation off this forum, I purchased new chrome door pins to replace the cheap looking plastic door pins on the front doors only. I purchased pins exactly the same as the link below but from a different ebay vendor, specifically for the W204...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCE...3A1|240%3A1318

The problem is that the door pins are too thick and do not fit into the stock surrounds on the door. If you compare them, the OEM pins are noticeably more narrow than the new replacements. If you first install the chrome surrounds provided in the kit and then the new pins, the finished look is very tacky as the supplied surrounds don't sit flush on the angled door sill (very hard to explain). With the previous post on the door pin install, how did you get around this? I can force the new pins into the original surrounds but then the lock does not function correctly do to the overly tight fit- it will go down but not back up (unlock). The manufacturer informed me by email from China that they do not make another size- what is the deal here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please tell me there is a work around for this issue so I don't have to deal with shipping this product back to China!

Damn. Me and another member here ordered a set of these as well, hopefully there is an easy way around this.

Also, are all 4 pins the same? Or are the ones for the rears a little different?

yeah, the pin surrounds will look like crap due to the angling of the door. There've been pics of this posted on the non-amg 204 subforums a while back. Should try searching there as most 204 modders and modding info is there. Everyone just leaves the surrounds off. As for the pins themselves, looks like it's an issue with the seller. The other pins I've seen fit just fine and don't have to be forced.

I wonder if those pins you bought were different than these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCE...3A1|240%3A1318

Same seller, but these actually specify w203 and w204 pins size and there's a price difference.

A 204 727 06 599 051

Those should be the part numbers for OEM 204 metal surrounds

yeah, they should be the same according to the picture, but different link, different auction, and different title description. Either way, I'd complain to the seller that the widths are too big and get them to fork over the shipping charges. Otherwise, it'll only be like $5 or so with a padded mail envelope.

I also bought the pins. I guess I'll be contacting the seller as well.

If you want factory look knobs but shorter so that they sit flush with the door order these from the dealer. A123 766 00 22. They look identical to the factory ones just without the added length on the knob. so when the door is locked they are flush and unlocked stick up maybe 1/4"

Fronts just unscrew. Rears are a real PITA. Do a search on the W204 forum for door pins many threads with different ways to take care of the rears.

2012 GL & 2013 C Class
Just installed my new pins today on my 2013 c class. Very easy and took under 10mins. The set I purchased came from China. Link below of the actual pins. Great quality and great turnaround time. If you would like pictures let me know. I too was debating about installing the back ones from everything I heard. I must say it was simple. A gentle pull upward and they popped off. My mother-in-law and my wife want a set for their ML & GL now :=). Very inexpensive upgrade and they look wunderbar. Mercedes Benz C Class W204 C300 C350 ml Class W163 Metal Door Lock Pin 4pcs | eBay
