Go S63?

Keep in mind that while the S63 might be novel, is obviously very classy and may look like the right choice on paper... you just might be a "sports car" kind of guy. In which case you might not be satisfied with an S no matter how fast and luxurious it is.
Case in point, between my spouse and I we have five 2-seaters and 2 sedans (the C63 and a Mitsu Evo 8, which aren't exactly luxo-sedans) I like the sedans but my S.U. refuses to buy anything with more than 2 seats. We are just sports car people and everything else just doesn't feel right!

Well, it's C63 FTW. Wife was a no-go on the S63. Frankly I'm in a very weak position with having the C63 only 6 months. I'll have more of a leg to stand on in a year from now.
As I've said, I adore the C63. Still very happy with it. Hmmm...I feel so good about my decision I think it's time for another mod.

Since you got the Turbo it make sense to get the S63... BUT me personally I would rather have a bunch of performance cars... I am not an S-Class type of guy... I like a rough ride I would keep the C63 and MOD the $hAt out of it and just have some fun....

Maybe it's because the TT w/ it's current mods is so "complete" for me, I was looking for a nice big, but still fly performance sedan. I took an S550 for the evening and drove it to work today (they did not have an S63 on the lot). It's a totally different feeling -- feels very good behind a big, luxuriouis sedan, sipping coffee without using my arm as a shock absorber, and the quiet inside the cabin is tantalizing. It just puts me into a calm state.
With my C63, it's high intensity, pure race driving adrenaline, and a connection to the road that is all encompassing. What I can't do in my C63, is chill. Sure, I can put it in C, cruise at 60mph in the right lane, ease off the lateral pinch of the seats, and kick back into the headrest. But within minutes, I'm back to squeezing the side lumbar into my ribcage, hands tightly gripping the wheel, eyes focused on upcoming traffic and sneaky cops, and racing up and down the powerband for the pure joy of it. TT, same gig.
Can my wife understand that, hells no. Maybe next year.
In the meanwhile, having both these cars will help hold my youth. I have the rest of my declining years to drive a big, phat sedan--no matter how badd *** it may be.

Until recently, I felt the same way. Gimme a garage full of rough-riding performance cars and I'm happy.

That said, I'd expect an S63 to handle/perform/sound quite different than an S550...
Off-topic, I'm sure many wouldn't mind learning more about your 997TT mods If it's ~650 bhp, it must have upgraded turbos, no?

Thanks for the post.
Perhaps it was telling that I did not even visit the S-AMG forum
Yeah, the handling and performance of the S63 is quite different from the S550, was demo'ing it to see if I liked the size.
As for my TT mods, no upgraded turbos necessary for 650hp. Here's what I have:
* Fabspeed sport exhaust v3
* Fabspeed headers
* Fabspeed air intake
* GIAC ECU tune for 93 octane
* AWE Intercoolers
* AWE larger throttle body
* AWE silicon hoses (for I/C's and turbos)
That takes me to 650. With AWE's upgraded turbos, takes me to 700, or 750 on race fuel. That of course requires a stronger clutch.
It would cost me $6K or so to go from 650 to 700, so at this point, I don't think it's worth that extra money for HP that one would only detect in track & sprint times.

AMG sedans and an M 2+2 car
Do you have a chaffeur? Not cool trying to park your limo-esque car by yourself with a loud exhaust. Otherwise... save some money and stick with the C63.

Kinda off topic but I managed to drive an S65 (those v12 Twin Turbo) a few months ago. I've never been so impressed by the straight line acceleration of a BIG sedan. Its still can't turn but my god that was quick. It makes me wonder how an SL65 would feel like.

Have you driven an SL65? If so how do you compare the performance and acceleration of your tuned TT versus a stock SL65? I've been wondering this for a while since thats the next car i wanna pull the trigger on

I have a business partner that own an SL65 and a tricked out full Techart 996TT he said that the Porsche is a very harsh ride (well its fully modified after all) and it feels like work out when he's driving it since it's a driver's car (heavy steering & you feel one with the car) but it handles like it's on rails. That being said the SL65 has every creature comfort available and the crazy torque feels like he's driving a diesel truck and it can peel off all the way through 4th if necessary. He has a nice stable of cars M5, M6, C63, SL65, 996TT, S65, Supercharged M3 and a tricked out Evo 9. His favorite is the SL65 just because of its raw power and the comfort that it has if he's just cruising around the city.

^^ in this case the M5 is his and the M6 is regularly driven by his 18 year old daughter.
I know... I said wtf when I heard that for the 1st time. Oh well whatever floats their boat.

LOL, he literally goes through cars like he changes underwear. But he drives everyone one of them like a bat out of hell. He actually tried to convince me to buy his C63 but the idea of someone drifting their car on a daily basis and then selling it off to me didn't go too far and I ended up with a brand new one instead.

surprised it took so long for this thread to degrade
now we're talking about 18-year-old chics driving M6's -- honestly, this thread is worthless without pics.
