2009 C63 Demo for $55k

My local MB dealer is offering me a '09 C63 fully loaded with 7k miles on it for $55k ($13k off sticker). It hasn't been registered yet so I still have to pay gas guzzler tax.

Is this a decent deal given the currrent market?

Thanks in advance.

7k miles on a demo? That sounds like a lot of miles to me, and if it was a demo, I suspect everyone and their brother beat the living snot of of the car on test drives.
I would pass, you should be able to get a brand new one with no miles for under 60k in the current market if you look hard enough and are willing to go out of market to get it.

The car is likely punched as sold in the computer but not registered as the manager likely drove it as his demo car for 7k miles. It has to be sold as new to the dmv and its viewed as sold already to mb so it wont qualify as new for financing and leasing. The warranty also started when it was punched 7k miles ago. So the warranty is ticking with time and miles.

What was the original MSRP? Are they offering a new set of rear tires with the purchase? I would not care who drove it or how hard, it still has 43k miles worth of warranty left. I would however expect at least a $10k discount and a new set of rear tires. If they would do that, then I think it's a good deal.

Are you sure about that? This is not the case with other manufacturers demo models.

They offered me thier 2.9% financing which is MB current new car financing offer. I'll see what they'll offer in a way of a lease. They said this was an executives daily driver but I guess still no guarantees on how hard the car was driven.

LOL & ROFL. I'm an executive, and my C63 is my DD. I treat my car very well, but I drive it like it's meant to be driven. Oh man "executives daily driver", that's a good one.

Lease will crush you, just do a search.

Hey, if you plan to keep it while it's under warranty & then sell...why not? If you're planning to keep this puppy for longer, pass.

I wouldn't do it... 7k miles is ALOT, maaaybe if it had like 3k miles it would be cool. Plus you KNOW they didn’t break in the car properly, and it probably has been taking a beating for all 7000 miles... You could also probably get if for cheaper too, that deal isn’t THAT good... I would just get a brand new one, especially since its only a couple more g's… Nothing like a brand new car!

If the car aint broke, no problem

Take it to a mechanic -- If someone "drove it hard and abused it so much" and nothing is wrong with the engine, the brakes aren't worn to hell for 7k miles, then whats the problem? Have a look - Does it look beaten? Take a mechanic and ask him if it has any problems and looks like a car with 7k miles. If not, then go for it. One way to see if it has been driven hard is the tread on the tires. But dont delude yourself into thinking that abuse happens all the time and that the car is now crap - Look at it

I just did a similar deal and the car is flawless. It is probably a corporate car which means an executive drove it. Mine has been trouble free and has the exact 7k miles on it. There should be no gas guzzler tax, if there is, work it into the deal. I bought a loaded 08 for 51k. It has brand new tires I'm guessing and doesnt look a day old. Just drive the car and make sure it feels good. There is no reason not to buy if the car looks and feels right.

As Cyn said check to see if the car has been RS'd (Report of Sale) aka punched because the clock on the warranty would have started. I think thats the only good think about this deal is that you can get a full warranty if the car has not been punched. The 55k seems steep, here are some recent auction sales. These are numbers for perpective only since there are fees, transport, recon, and other costs that a dealer will incur after the purchase. But with dealers taking many more losers in this economy the 55k doesnt seem like one. And we want the members here to get the best deal!!!

In some cases a dealer demo can be treated better than a Head Office demo. If the dealer principle / sales manager rode the thing around then it will be fine. The HO cars are used as press cars, track day events MB driving experience etc, handed over to whoever shoots them for the brochures etc. Those are the ones that are usually in the shop before they even get the chance to be sold LO

Finally someone with some *****.

I'd get it. Like he said these cars are meant to go sideways and to have the **** driven out of them.

I doubt the car has been drove hard, its not like people taking a test drive do donuts and burnouts, they might floor it a few times, whoopdeedoo.
