Just picked up a C63
I went to a MB dealership today not even thinking about coming with a car when I was offered the best deal so far. I ended up trading my 08 S5 with 12600 miles (58k MSRP) for 45500 and got 4600 off invoice (was supposed to be 5k but there was this 390 advertising charge) for the C63.
This car is so awesome I almost have zero buyers remorse, but I do have one sour spot. When I was about to sign the final deal the finance rep who was working with me (a hawt chic btw) asked if I wanted to add Lojack for 600 (original 1000) and dent/ding insurance & tire/wheel insurance 5 years for 1200 (orginal 2400 together). I thought about it but when she said the tire and wheel covers even aftermarket wheels I had to go for it. Especially given that I have frequent flats. Did I just pay 1800 (600 + 1200) for nothing or are these insurance (Lojack, Wheel & Tire, dent & ding) worth the money?

I personally think that ti's worth it... u know... if your tires get slashed (doesn't matter by who..it could be ur hired next door neighbour kid for all they care), u can get them replaced for free... and since the performance tires cost like 500+ x 4, you will be thanking yourself when that happens. dings/dents always happen due to stupid retarded irresponsible people who don't open their door in consideration...sorry i'm a bit sour but my door is damaged because of that. Good thing I bought extra insurance whihc makes my deductible low so i can get fixed and repainted for $50! Tires.... it does go against my morals but I do pray every night that someone will slash my 4 tires when my tread is low

MB always uses hot chicks to sell the useless things - if it gives u a better sense of security then its worth it for u - me personally, if someone jacks my car, I dont want it back -
and I knew id get aftermkt wheels so wheel/tire protection is useless. Plus its not worth the hassle proving a tire/wheels should be covered. i believe the tire coverage is prorated on usage.

I guess just make sure the tires are in unfixable conditions (for example, drive them when they're flat for a few blocks) so they would buy u new ones.

the protection also covers after market wheels..and if u drive your car as hard as it should be driven i don't think it matters what they do to your car...
just my opinion tho

my rep told me it would not cover aftermkt wheels, because that was my quick reason for my No respones. Anyways too late for me.
Off topic - but lyoto machida is one bad-azz mf'er...I just got 7 tickets to UFC 101 since its never here on the east coast and I cant wait to check it out live...
btw congrats on the car.

Yes they cover new tires and wheels even aftermarket ones for 5 years, I quickly said no too when she asked me if I wanted tire insurance and told here that I'd be getting PS2, then she told me the news tires (and wheels if I were to get them) would be covered too. I thought that was a pretty good deal.
I'm thinking of maybe cancelling the dent and ding because I don't think I'll accumulate over 600 dollars worth of dent and dings in 3-5 years to make that insurance worthwhile.
btw how much does the stock 18" C63 AMG wheels cost?

haha, I went to a Ring of Combat once before. A guy from my gym used to be the light heavyweight champ. His name is Ricardo Romero. do you know or see him before? That guy Constanino Philloupe (sp?) is one badass ****.
Where do you train at? I used to train at a small gym in jersey, now I moved to Cali and train at Wild Card boxing.
edit: you have a manager? are you a pro fighter?

I'm with PatSC23 on the lojack. If someone steals my car I wouldn't want it back either, but otherwise it seems to be a great service. And while I realize it is not impossible, I would think thiefs tend to target easier/lower profile targets than an AMG. But I guess it also depends on where you park it...out on the street or in a private garage.

Congrats on the new ride.
Never buy the extras. It's been proven by the people selling it that it's extremely profitable for them and not you. You don't buy insurance on everything you get at Best Buy?
Really, it's a racket. If it was in your favor, they wouldn't be selling it to you. And the downside is that no matter what they tell you at the time of sale, you never know how good the coverage actually is until you try and settle a claim.
Also you just padded their profit on the car.

Actually I told them to add it to the price of the car so it was financed with the car. So I asked today if I could cancel and they said no at first but then said that since the paperwork is already processing they could just cancel the service/insurance and just pay off that amount on my loan. Same thing I guess.

Thanks for the comment and advice.
So looks like I could cancel at least some of them. I told her I definitely do not want Lojack and maybe some other thing.
Do you think even the tire and wheel insurance is no good? If I could keep that portion of the insurance for 600 I think I might keep that one. I mean, one AMG wheel costs that much doesn't it?

Think positive and take care of your car. Be smart, be safe, and stay off the curbs.
Insurance is about fear and the unknown. That's why insurance companies are some of the wealthiest corporations on the planet.
When was the last time you had an insurance claim? Or maybe you feel you're jinxed and need to pay for peace of mind insurance?![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Here's an interesting anecdote: I have a wealthy friend here who owns several nice cars. None of them have auto insurance other than the legal liability insurance (and wealthy people can prove assets and waive that, too) No collision, no comprehensive. He has never made a claim and has saved over $25k in the past 10 years. He's playing the odds just like the insurance companies do (actuarial science) and he's ahead of the game.
Obviously he can personally cover a loss that might happen. But you can too, with wheels/tires. Your tires are going to wear out on the C63 before you'll ever need to use any insurance, trust me. And wheels are pretty strong. Just stay alert.
Take the $600 and set it aside. Invest it.
Anyway, it's simply a game of odds. It's up to you to play your hand the way you feel most comfortable.
Good luck and enjoy the car!
