Am I doing something wrong?

So I just passed 6000 miles on my '09 C63 and my OEM tires still have plenty of tread depth to them. Granted I had snow tires on for the first 2K miles or so, but it seems many people are replacing the rears before 5000. At this pace the Pirellis should make it well into next year's summer season. I should get >10K out of them if not more.

Does this mean I drive like a wus?

I don't think you can use the comments of the forum members here as the rule of thumb for tire life expectancy. The vast majority of these members are enthusiast-owners who will tend to drive the car harder than your run-of-the-mill owner. Granted, the C63 is a car aimed directly at enthusiasts, but I'm sure that in the overall scheme of things, the number of C63 owners who are doing burnouts and doughnuts on a daily basis are few and far between.

It is not normal to have rear tires that are completely worn out after 5,000 miles of driving. I got just over 6,500 miles from my first set of P Zero rear tires, and that's without doing a single burnout of any kind, only "hard" driving when the occasion called for it or the opportunity came about. With moderation, I believe it would have been possible to get about 8,000 miles out of the OEM rear tires.

I did not do any burnouts or doughnuts and only got 4k miles out of my OEM rears. I was surprised as I really did not do a lot of streetlight racing, mostly highway miles as a dd.

Take traction control off and they wont last long.

I have 10,000km and I'm done my 3rd set now, going onto my 4th. Went drifting at the track one day though that killed a set in one night.

hahahaha do the math bro.... and yes you do...

When I burned my first rear set of tires at 4k miles, I asked my service advisor if this was extremely unusual, and he said that he has never seen a rear pair of tires on any 6.3 AMG car last more than 7200k... No joke, I was shocked to hear that. You are pretty close to 7k so if your tires aren’t almost done I would assume that you need to step up your game a lil bit, what is the point of buying this car if you’re not gonna really drive it...

You should also consider the road surface on which you drive. Some surfaces are a lot more punishing on tires and will cause them to wear faster. Roads in Florida along with the high temperatures are nothing short of abusive on tires. But if you're getting that much mileage out of your OEM's, chances are you are driving the car as if it had only four cylinders. She's much happier if you let her rip at least once a day.

I have lots of seat time on my neighbors C63 since day 1...

I think we used the P's up at 3600, 2 sets of rear R888's at 6k miles???

Did I win?

No, your not a Wus, when you are ready for new tires, check into Toyo!

Ok do the Math, I have GY Eagle F1 A/S now and got 11,000 on them. WOW I am amazed. I have 35,000 miles on the car now, I have gone through 6 sets prior to the GoodYears. I am loving it. needless to say the street where I live is a bit more darker now from rubber. hehe I had one of the first cars imported here and when I was shocked to see the tires gone in 2,000 miles, I took it to the dealer. Since they never seen or experianced a C63 before they replaced them for free and said maybe the tires had manufactor defect (Got to love San Diego MB dear) har har har, but really put you foot on the gas some, feel the power, do not have to spin the tires just do quick takeoffs and you will see the wallet tounge hanging out soon.
Be safe have fun punch it
