Difference between 08 C63 and 07 E63 engine power output.
I was reading through the specs for the two cars. The C has 451 HP while the E has 507 HP but since the E weighs almost 400 pounds more the performance is about the same. Dont they have the same engine? Why the 50+ HP difference?

None taken. I don't read ALL the messages here and the title on that one gave no indication of a comparison between the two cars.

In a nutshell, MB couldn't have their baby model C class be equal to and outbeat it's bigger and more expensive siblings. They detuned the C63s engine to 451hp so the bigger and more expensive models have the hp edge (out the factory that is), you can easily get the difference in power back with an ecu tune. A headers, intake, and tuned C63 will do brutal damage as it's the lightest of the 63 AMG cars. Props to AMG and MB for putting the same engine in their smallest model.
If BMW did something like that the M3 would have the 5.0 V10 in the more expensive M5/M6 but at maybe 450hp or so, after a tune it would easily be faster than the M5 and M6 due to it's weight despite having the same power. BMW did not do this and thus the M5/M6 will reign in an motor vs. motor matchup unless the E9x gets FI.
Another reason to give AMG it's props!
