RennTech C63 Vs. GTR
Sheep
STRAIGHT PERFORMANCE
GTR = Turbo so power isn't as immediate, but the rush (
). Exhaust note is very turbine like.C63 = Brute V8. Much better exhaust note (especially rev at idle). Big power, but not as exhilarating of a sensation as the GTR (probably perception from the turbos).
Stock GTR is considerably faster in stock form for my cars. My Gtech yields the following:
GTR 0-60 stomp (no launch control) 3.9s
C63 0-60 stomp 4.7s
TRACK etc.
No comparison. The GTR is better in every respect on any track of any length. The performance limits of the car are well beyond my "guts" factor for both cars, but you can feel the difference in capabilities. The C63 feels like a "hot sedan" in comparison to the GTR that seems "purposefully built.
BRAKES
Brakes on the C63 are great, but he GTR has 2piece 15" rotors all around. Stomp the brakes in the GTR and you'll be reaching into the dashboard for your eyeballs.
TRANSMISSION
The C63 has the better slushbox for everyday commuting (but that is what it is - a torque converter slushbox). The GTR has the better transmission for racing and spirited driving. The shifts are on a whole other level. However, it does jerk and spit a bit in city driving, especially when cold. Paddle shifters are too small in the C63 but move with the steering wheel, in the GTR they are large but don't move with the wheel.
HAULING ability...
GTR = True 2+2. Ok for the kids, or an occasional party of 3, but not practical if you have to haul real people in the back often. Rear headroom is really limited. C63, though no family hauler does have more doors and decent head and leg room. If you drive alone then the GTR is better because I personally don't like the deep bucket seats on the C63. I have to have two settings to get in and out of the car as to not tear up the bolster on the seats of the C63.
INTERIOR FIT AND FINISH...
The C63 is better in every way. The headliner and visors in the GTR are straight from the Maxima. I don't know what the leather used was, but it wasn't from the best part of the cow. The carpet is extremely cheap (I think for weight savings) and there are folds and places where you can see the under base.
Things I don't like about each car...
C63 mileage and tank size. I can rarely get more than 300 miles from a tank in mixed driving. It is a combination of a small tank and bad mileage. Keeping your feet out of the turbos will yield 4-6mpg better hwy mileage in the GTR on the same trip. As a result I can get 350-370 miles from a tank in the GTR (about the same size tank).
C63 front seats. They look all cool, but the livability is bad. Setting #1 is how I drive. Setting #3 is how I get into and out of the car.
C63 Navigation. It gives up street detail at too much zoom. However, I hate the GTR's navigation also for entirely different reasons.
GTR. Interior fit and finish. It just sucks. The layout is great the seats are good (little to little padding for a long trip).
GTR steering wheel. It just feels like you could build 300 GTR steering wheels for the cost of 1 C63 steering wheel. There is a big bulb where the airbag is and the wheel itself feels "cushy". That'd be the first thing I'd change if I could.
GTR attention. The people that recognize the car are fanatical and stupid. Some guy in a Murano had his girlfriend literally hanging out of the passenger side of the car (whole body above the waist) on a freeway with a camera phone. So fanatical that I purposely didn't take my prescribed exit because he was taking it.
GTR noises. It makes some weird noises (rattling, clunking, etc).
Things I love about each car...
C63, exhaust and that right now torque. Quieter ride. Not noticed except by a reasonable knowing human being.
GTR, the playstation gauge selections are really cool. Back road spirited driving =

I can drive either car on any day and I probably drive the GTR 70% of the time.
Hope this helps,
Ron

Service for the GTR isn't bad though MB service is a more professional experience. GT-R dealers have dedicated personnel and you're seen as a king when you're at the dealership.
The warranty issues are all around the Launch Control. If you launch the car with the transmission, suspension and VDC in R-mode you have no warranty issues. If you launch once with VDC off and the transmission fails you're screwed. The GT-R has a sophisticated "black box" that monitors everything.
A lot of warranty denials are for folks that have modified the car. Being a turbo, 600-700 hp is just an ECU and exhaust away.
It took two dealerships to buy a GT-R. The first was so unprofessional I left. They're too used to 24 year old credit problems who want to joy ride a GT-R.

I know unlike the GT-R, C63's suspensions aren't electronically adjustable, but the "comfort" button in my GT-R doesn't do anything except making the car more unstable in high speed.
Turbos are always trouble in the long run too. All you GTR buyers will find out sooner or later that you just can't compare a Nissan with a Benz. Maybe right away it seems better but the Benz is a much better car in the end.

you got some serious complexes. I just cant understand why fanboys like you (not even on this forum) write ***** like that. R35 gtr is one of the best supercars ever made in history( the car is in the top-ten of nurburgring-times) and yes you can´t compare it with the "poor" w204 c63.
Take a testdrive with the gtr.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
On the dragstrip the GTR will have a advantage because it gots 4wd and 2 turbo's which will boost the GTR nearly a second faster from 0-60 than a C63.
BTW, The Japanese do happen to compete with the Germans fairly well.
Too many people tried to compare the GTR to its only rival , the 997 GT2.
Come on !! You compare a Playstation car to a mighty porsche !
Don't you buy vehicules just for their performance ?
Ok , on perfs point , GTR is far ahead of most "sports" cars. But hey , did you already see the interior of this car ??? I saw only 1 for now , but damn , that thing is just plastic on plastic. How can this be a daily car ??? No way.
The price gap between a 997 GT2 and a GTR ??!! Well , I just answered your question. You CAN'T compare ( at least on a full comparo ) those two cars.
Even if the C63 is not a 997 GT2 , its the same story here between GTR and C63. Of corse , the C63 is fast , of corse the GTR is even faster. But , even if its not as "class-ish" as the GT2 , the C63 is much more driver-friendly.
My point.
No offense at all.
PS : and thats what Jap cars are , performance cars only. Now you just have to know what you want to drive
Or buy both

1. the rival is 997 turbo - not gt2
2. I want to look at you if you try to drive that "playstation" around the ring

3. Have you already seen the interieur of f430?? its much worse than r35 gtr´s, does it makes ferrari worser?? No! And also, the interieur of c63 is very crappy for its price, m3 is much better. I personally like the interieur of gtr, not very luxury and comfortable compare to my cl65, BUT better than in the c-class. C63 is also just plastic on plastic!
4. I have driven the gtr for a week in moscow and I can say its comfortable supercar for daily driving, compare to some others.
The only weakness of the gtr is the fact thats its a Nissan.
PS: people like Morro are called fanboys, I m sure he never had driven one, so what to discuss??
A friend of mine just had his '10 GT-R custom tuned with the Cobb AccessPort (std. Cobb AccessPort GT-R tuning map + then custom map tuned @ a local tuning shop)...
Stock: 434AWHP...the tuner said this is the highest he's seen ANY GT-R dyno!

Tuned: 514 AWHP, 484 lb-ft AW TQ!!!!!

My friend is not b.s'ing either; this is what the dyno read and it was a Mustang Dyno. I think that's some crazy ***** right there and he's got himself a 640+HP Supercar now that should probably run in the 10's in the 1/4 mi..
