PowerChip?

Does anyone have the PowerChip (Gold 93) for their C63 AMG? They claim 527BHP / 505 lb-ft. TQ with just this PowerChip ECU Flash and costs $1,990...any feedback and/or comparison to the Kleemann K1? Apparently, the ECU would still need to be removed and shipped to PowerChip in CA, since the MB C63's ECU cannot be flashed by any PowerChip dealers.

I think if I ever get an ECU Flash, I would still do the Kleemann K1, but I was just curious.

Might want to PM forum member "jikjak". He's been doing a lot of research on the Powerchip ECU tune lately and might be able to offer you some insight into it.

PM'd him and he replied, but he does not drive a C63. Anyone have any knowledge of the PowerChip specifically for the C63 AMG?

Evosport does.
Also Vadim @ Fedor Dezyn is using Powerchips as a part of his FR540 Power Package.
Overbudget has it installed on his C63

Talking I have the Powerchip tune!

sflgator:

I have had the Powerchip tune going on 4 months now and am really happy with it. I was told by Jeremy at Powerchip that the most conservative HP gain would be 50 HP

I really believe it had added at least 50 HP to my C63 and that will increase when I add Vadim's Airbox and Shorty headers.

Powerchip really stepped up when my MB Dealer on my 10,000 mile service flashed the ECU and overwrote the Powerchip tune. The car ran like Sh$t and I couldn't believe the drop in power that I had gotten used to. I purposely chose Powerchip because they are local to me here in California and I could immediately go there and get the reflash.

I think MB must have a bulletin out and others at the 10k service are seeing the same thing. Anyway after 100 or so miles the car felt like befor the dealer visit and i was happy again.

I can also say that I can now compare my C63 more favorbly to my lightly modded 06' E55 in power. Ask Juicee and MB_Forever about my E55. It was only about .40 slower than Johnny Rocket and Shawn at Ontario when we ran on the most miserable day known to mankind.

The C63 feels close to my E55 now and is very different from when I 1st got it and would constantly compare it to my E55.

Anyway I hope this helps!

Regards

Those sound like nice future mods. Vadim is a good guy.

BTW, are you saying your car re-adapted after 100 miles? Or did you have to go get re-flashed.

I don't have a tune but when I got my 10,000 mile service I noticed on the report that some sort of check was done to the ECU. I'll have to get out the paperwork. They also put 7 miles on the car...

Hans:

The Car just ran like crap for over a week + so I made the appointment with Jeremy at Powerchip and he did a reflash of the ECU.

It seemed about a 100 miles or so before the power came back. The drive to my home from Costa mesa to La Quinta is over 100 miles so it was nice to get home!!!

Have you dyno'd your car with the Powerchip? Their Web site claims 527 BHP / 505 lb-ft TQ, but the detailed .pdf file they sent me was supposedly the "old" one which shows only 478 BHP / 469 lb-ft TQ. Not sure which one to believe here; I mean + 27 HP / + 26 lb-ft TQ isn't good for $1,990, but + 76 HP / + 62 lb-ft TQ is certainly much better, although still ~ $500 more than the Kleemann K1.

A friend of mine used Eurotek designs inc. they were right at 540hp, there tune runs around $2,500, when it comes to tuning your engine, i dont always think choosing the cheapest option is the best option, you do get what you pay for

I had the pc tune on my car. It only gained about 20rw and the later they said they flashed me the wrong file but I sent it back and got my money back yes they did offer to retune my car but at that time I only had one ecu and could not lose to not have a car.

I'm willing to bet evosport would like to argue that point. I don't doubt what your saying, must be nice to live so close to Kleeman HQ. The evosport sticky with the Nov. special seems to indicate that their flash would be the equal of Kleeman, maybe not...I think c63 guy may have the powerchip tune.

Who knows maybe pc flashed him the wrong tune also hahahahahah such b.s they don't make nowhere near what they say they do. Till I see Dyno numbers to prove other wise that tune don't work!!! And also would be nice to see someone out of Cali to post Dyno numbers so they have 0 ties to pc or evosport.

I've had the Powerchip tune for about 14,000 miles and I have been more than satisfied with it. I'm going to the big meet at Famoso raceway on Saturday to run some 1/4 miles so that will be the true test. I'm going to try to drive down to Powerchip in Costa Mesa tomorrow to make sure I have the most recent software.

2010 C63 AMG Evo3 done by Evosport, 2005 CLK55 Amg KLeeman supercharged stage 4,
I just got the EVosport ECU upgrade that is 50 to 70 hp gain with the pulley upgrade adds another 15to 30 they claim. To be honest the car is unleashed after the upgrade and everything installed comes to around 3000. If you get feedback on the kleeman ugrade Id like to know how it performs.

Does 100 Octane add more power when you have ECU upgrade

I have just purchased a 2010 C63 with the sport pckg. I am wondering since I got the ecu reflashed and added some upgrades i was wondering if i put the 100 octane in it would cause damage to the camshaft sensor. I used to put it in my clk55 amg kleeman it caused the camshaft sensor to go out after 5000 miles of only running 100 octane as minimum level. Let me know If there any people out there who have been running 100 octane and have their ecu reflashed. Thanks

Not sure I see the difference

I got the Powerchips Tune abou a week and a half ago and am not sure I see a huge difference in the seat dyno. Maybe a little change in the midrange but certainly not something to write home about. I am compelled to get my car dyno'd to see since I had to be down for 3 days and ship my ECU to CA. Paul at Powerchips that I worked with through the whole process was excellent I just wish I could really notice the difference. I will be calling Paul up to chat about my concern with the wow factor.

You should notice a big difference. Get the car to the dyno and post up some charts.

Heading to MotorWerks/Eurocharged Houston Friday

So I am heading to MotorWorks/Eurocharged in Houston on Friday to get the car on the dyno. I am a little bummed as they say they are having issues with their dyno but the person I spoke with has a stock 09 c63 so we are going to put both on to see the difference of the PC tune on my car. I really hope it did something as I really don't notice a difference. I wish EuroCharged would swing me a deal on a tune and pulley if the PC tune didn't do much... Please???
