Oil level

Oil level
I have a 2009 C63 and received the warning on my dash about Check Oil level at next gas stop. My oil dipstick is different than the one in the manual. I have three red tabs near the bottom of the dipstick. Is the oil level supposed to be between the top two or the bottom two? My level was just below the middle one so I added a quart. Now the level is between the top two tabs and I wonder if I added too much.

we add half a quart if the oil level is at the middle mark
upon adding a whole quart, our little baby will emit smoke from the exhaust pipes upon subsequent start ups, the half quart addition method eliminated this condition for our car
you should be all right with the amount of oil you added but you may find our technique a solution

The only time i got the (check oil) indicator, 3000 miles, my oil was all the way off the stick and it took me three quarts to get it back to the top. but i have haven't used a drop since i have 5100 miles now. strange huh.
i just got my oil changed this week, hope the trend continues.

hard to say i never floor it at a red light but i move pretty quick. Cant buy a race on the highway here maybe get it into the 120's on the highway if traffic is light. got to 146 once when the highway was empty for a stretch. didn't bother with the break in recommendations. will take it to the limiter 174 (i have pp) when i get enough open freeway. middle of the road would probably best describe the driving i do.

Atta boy, keep up the good work.
I just invested in a GX65 radar detector.
It has the red light and speed trap camera detector locations as part of the data base.
Can't wait to try it out.
I have about 3900 miles now and still haven't floored it to tilt yet. My personal goal is to wait until 5000 miles for the break in period. Like I said, it's a personal thing. Since these engines are running synthetic, it's my theory, they are gonna take longer to break in. I had an engine builder in Boise who used to have me go a minimum of 3000 miles on regular oil when breaking in my blue printed Harley engines he built for me. There is a reason for the madness. I am following his methodology. He's a member of the 200mph Bonneville Club and I highly respect his wisdom. As far as any difference, who knows, who cares......! Am having fun too!
