Cold start issue

Time after time I realized that my car doesn't seem to engage into cold start. When the dealer first gave me my car they started it for me and the rpms were higher thus the exhaust was noticeably louder and deeper.

For the last few days in a row when I start my car the rpms are just above 500 rpm at iddle, this is after the car have been sitting in the garage for 14 hours.

I keep watching the videos on youtube with people starting their cars and the rpms are noticebaly higher and off course the car is louder as well. Is anyone having similar issues?

Also, I am starting in the wrong foot. I had to take the car to the dealer already twice for two different issues(rear cortine not deploying and TPMS)..

This has happened to me a couple times already but ONLY after i got my tune. It seems that some mornings the car simply just doesn't seem cold at all. I dont really pay much attention to it since it drives just fine. I dont think it's an issue for you either but either way take it to the dealer anyway. It doesnt bother me at all when it does happen...

Perhaps the climate is warmer, move to Canada. Cold start every single time in the winter.

I love the car in the moring very loud but in summer time when weather is hot my car also dont get loud. But last week when weather was cold the loud cold start came back and again this week was warm so its back to no loud cold start. So I think that it depends on the weather. I also dont think its a problem but it well be a good idea to take to a dealer.

I will follow up tomorrow because it seems like perhaps the car has a external temp sensor(I am guessing) and it can tell when is neccesary to engage the cold start, again, I am just guessing.

Carlos, my car is the same. I have had only one start where the engine ran at 1k rpms for about 20 seconds and was noticeably louder. It then dropped to 500 rpms and quieted down like it is when I normally start. It may be something related to the heat here in Tucson. I keep mine in a garage but the temp is still pretty high in the morning.

Guys, I've directly correlated to oil temp. If the car is BELOW 85F on oil temp, it will cold start. Time sitting doesn't matter...I've NEVER had it cold start when sitting for less than 12 hours, because my garage here in HI is close to or above 80F all the time, and therefore, it never cools to below 85F in less than 12 hours.

When you turn it on, go to the AMG screen to check the temps...if above 85F, it will be a warm start...if below 85F, but not cold starting, I'd take it to have it checked.

I think its because of summer and the heat in Arizona.
I live in Dubai where its 90-100F everyday and the car almost never cold start. But in the winter, it sure did bark at me every morning

Guy lets get with the program here. A cold start in this car is truly a cold start. If you are operating in a 80 - 90 degree climate for example, this car is still warm/ hot after sitting in the garage for 12 or 14 hours. You have to realize the amount of heat that the beast creates and for me in the summertime, the car has to sit for a couple days in the garage before its going to put out one of those trademark growling cold starts. Nothing's wrong with your car, its just the characteristics of the beast. And then in wintertime here in NJ, its pure cold start mania evertime you turn on the beast !
