Do you trade for a firm or independently? I ask because I traded futures for many years in Chicago and trade for my own account now.

Nice, do you mind telling me what is the best way to learn to trade futures for someone who wants to trade from home?

btw why did you stop working in Chicago (trading futures), it must have been a very lucrative career?

Car Whore
I sell corn cobs out of my push cart on the street here in LA.
If I really need to bump up my cash flow I slang oranges on the freeway offramp.

I'm surprised so many people answered. Pretty private question IMO.

BTW I sweep floors at MIT and solve wicked-haad equations in my spare time.

dmyrick...i have a Mooney M20C nothing special..nice little bird..not too slow..gets me where i need to be and it sips fuel...

in a few years i will upgrade to something bigger...my only complaint about the Mooney is that its pretty small inside...if i fly with 3 people on board it gets cramped on long flights...

I thought that being independently wealthy would be fun, but instead I went to school to be a CPA. So far, so good.

btw why did you stop working in Chicago (trading futures), it must have been a very lucrative career?

As far as trading futures the mechanics are pretty straight forward. You can get an overview and learn the basics online. Just google futures trading primer or something of the sort.

Then open up an account with a futures broker and only trade a simulated live account until you are able to be profitable for 6 consecutive months. I can't stress this enough because of how easy it is to lose money quickly and blow out your account (I blew out 2 accounts learning the hard way).

Most importantly you must create a trading plan and remain extremely disciplined and controled with it. Futures is a very fast paced environment and usually very short term due to the extreme leverage involved. It can really play games with your mind so don't rush into it unless you have loads of money to burn.

I got off the floor in the late 90's because the exchange floor concept was becoming antiquated, there was really no more "edge" and membership prices started tumbling. I decided to move to computer based trading and pursue a new opportunity in Vegas which ended up being a very good thing.

nah a mooney bravo is a top of the line aircraft..or a nice Columbia/Cessna 400 would be nice also....but i am proud, I started off with a piper warrior...it sure had more room then the mooney tho..
I think the aircraft market is totally different then cars though..They hold thier value much more and its alot easier to own a plane for a few years and then upgrade since you dont loose much value wise..its really insurance and maint. costs you have to look at when buying an airplane...

The M20C i have is very easy to maintain..

One of my finance professors in college said in class that most of the millionaires in this country are small business owners. I guess your on your way to being one (or already are). How hard is it to run a bowling center without any prior experience?

Actually, most of the millionaires in this country are retired. 401k's and IRA's have done WONDERS at making people millionaires. It's probably the easiest way to become one.

For the people who seriously posted in this thread, I find it quite interesting at the career spread. Good to know that there seem to be stable jobs across the board to afford this car.
