my parked C63 was hit AGAIN
and this time i was sitting in the driver's seat. i was waiting in the car for my passengers to run inside and get some food. normally i would have parked further away, but it was raining. so i'm there in the car when all of a sudden BANG. not a crash, just a bang. and i look over real quick and i see the car door of the mustang that was parked next to me wide open. i then see the guy, he sees me, and looks at me like "holy crap someone is in the car." idk if he was flustered or just shocked but he started to close his door, so i jumped out of the car and that's when he came out apologizing. he seemed like a nice guy, it was raining and he offered me the information i requested. it's too bad i couldn't get a police report. the police will not come and take a report for a minor accident around here anymore. they basically tell you to exchange information when you call them.
so we're in the rain, i'm taking his information down. i looked at the damage on my rear passenger door. very nice door ding, paint removed from my car and was nicely on his door. i got all his information and called his insurance as soon as i got back into the car. and of course their system was down so all the rep could do was take my information down and i should call back tomorrow. which i did, and now i have a claim number and waiting for an adjuster to call.
there is no way i'm getting screwed over again.

heh this has happened to me as well.
Was waiting for my brother outside his workplace parked on the side of a street, when a contracter gets into his pickup and backs right the **** up into the front of my c63.
Fortunately it was a pretty low speed collision so only some scrapes on the bumper and one of the grille's clamps got cracked. So I took it to the merc repair shop, after the insurance told me the guy admitted 100% fault, got the grille replaced and front bumper repainted.

I'm not going to lie, I've been on the opposite end of that (I was the person who's door hit another car). Of course it's just a minor scratch and stuff, and I didn't want any insurance problems so I just offered to pay it out of pocket. Lucky the guy was cool and said not to worry about it. Granted, I hit a minivan exiting my car, not a C63.
Either way, it sucks. I felt stupid and if it was a C63, I'd also feel a little sad inside.

These things happen unfortunately. My previous car was parked in a memorial park with a 5mph limit when a car rammed into it. The rear bumper was damaged along with the fender, the other car was damaged much more seriously, the front bumper falling off . I was feeling bad at the time but the car was repaired like new. As long as you werent hurt your car can be as good as new!

Bluejae. I've had several cars hit while parked. The last was my SLK 350. $2800 in damage to the side and no note. It did look great after it was fixed. Not much you can do to prevent it. Still sucks though.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst
This spring I got 4 inch rocks thrown on my c63 from a railroad above the highway I was travelling on by two "minor retarded youngster" -the police caught them later. My windshield shatered, the hood looked like you had hit it 20 times with a hammer. 16000$ of repairs and one month later I got my car back. luckily no one was injured
Some of my friends think I'm crazy when I park my car at end of the parking lot (Sure they drive a 1997 civic or take the bus). I just get more exercice that's all.
My rule is simple: never park beside a car that isn't as good looking as yours. If it isn't the owner will likely not pay more attention to your car than his and actually would not even consider it a big deal scratching or dinging your car.

16 grand in damage, ouch, that is a HUGE bill...as far as parking, I also park all my vehicles in a distance, because the day I dont I return to always find my car scratched or dinged.

UPDATE:
got the car back yesterday. pretty quick turnaround. had the work done at park place bodywerks in Dallas, TX.
the car looked good. pretty good paintwork, it seemed to match up well. the paint has unlimited warranty as they put it. labor has 1 year. i thought it was strange that my car had gained 3 miles from when i dropped it off. what do you guys think?
also, i drove the car home and when i got there, under some better lighting, i looked over the car door some more. and i found a very small defect in the paint. it's on the edge between the rear door and the front door. i can run my finger along the edge and it'll bump over it. if it were you, would you get this redone? would a shop actually go through the trouble to do the whole door again, even though that's what their warranty is for?

Absolutely 100% take it back, you paid for it and you deserve to get the finished product, especially if they left a little bump of overspray. Demand to get it corrected. I would also mention to them why there is 3 miles on your odometer, I have a feeling your car was the lunch touring car, our cars seem to be the thrill rides dream. Let them know you know.

and the 3 miles, i should have mentioned it before i drove off, but after i had left, they closed. so i don't think there is much i can do. even my paperwork shows that it was dropped off and picked up with the same miles on it. so i'm just gonna try and forget it, and learn from it
