winter wheel advice, 2009-10 version

Hi everyone,
This will be my first winter coming up w/ the C63 and was just thinking ahead to what wheel/tire setup I should do. I've searched the previous threads on this and it seems like the safest bet, if you want to run winter tires, is to mount them on the OEM 18" wheels, despite the staggered setup. Some have gone w/ same size tires all around on the staggered wheels and others have gone w/ OEM tire sizes for their winters. Haven't read any snow performance probems w/ this setup. Of course, for greatest convenience (and cost), a separate summer wheel/tire setup would be called for next year...

Anyone have any luck w/ other winter wheels that will fit the AMG brakes? As noted front offsets need to be et45, rears et54 -- pretty tough to find... I'd like to preserve the factory look as much as I could.

Thanks for any help!

I have give a lot of thought on this one so here is what I´m going with... I will use the summer tires on the wheels that came with the car and buy another set of wheels and tires for the winter. My Tires will be Bridgestone Blizzaks
which have got tome good reviews on this forum and I will go with FRONT 235/40*18" and REAR 255/35 18" so that I can change the summer and winter tires with the two different wheel sets as I like.

And could someone please explain what "staggered" means? Sorry IDK...

AFAIK Staggered is when front and rear wheels have different width (Ex: 19x9.5F and 19x10.5R) I'm talking about the rims without tires.
However, if you have same rim sizes (Ex: 9.5 All around) but different tire sizes (Ex: 235/35F 255/30R) this will probably be staggered as well, I guess.

And, also, I'm looking for winter tires as well and I heard from one of members that 235 all around fits good on stock wheels. You don't want to have wide tires in winter they won't help in terms of grip. Just my 0.02

THANKS -michael-!
I still think I will go with 255s.. Is there really much of a difference between having 235s or 255s in the rear in snow?
I just want to be sure I can swap the summer- and wintertires to either set of the wheels.. Are you sure I could use 235s in the rear when I have 255s there now?
I appreciate the answers!

Also, does it somehow look weird if using stock wheels and have the wider wheels in the rear but w/ 235's instead of 255's? I know we're talking dozens of mm here but....

O/w, I don't think I'd mind going w/ the stock wheels in the winter -- I know it works (w/ the right tires/sizes) and it retains the classic, kick-*** look of the C63.

One other question: in the DC area (mid-atlantic), where we maybe have 3-5 days a year of bad snow (but plowed within 1/2 a day), could I get away w/ say Good Year F1 All-seasons in stock sizes?
