Lutz already told us and the assembled reporters "You're running into a trap because if you beat me by a second on the lap time, we'll just advertise the price difference."
Wow, I have to say this was a pretty crazy but also good idea to market that CTS-V and Jalopnik was stupid enough to accept. This is REALLY REALLY unfair to Mercedes because I'm guessing they really do not have much say if Jalopnik races or not with a C63. But this shows how Bob Lutz is willing to get his hands dirty for GM. I have a feeling that this will become a pretty big deal after the race.

Yeah, I agree. This will probably be a big marketing tool for GM. I love the C63 and Jalopnik for that matter, but they probably should have picked another car.

The CTS-V price is more than what I paid for my C63 with the dealer trunk money. If they bring up the price diff, MB should counter with the incentives they had this year that made the C63 price actually lower.

the c63 is way better looking than the caddy. Even if the caddy is somewhat faster I would not switch my c63 for a CTS-V. The needles in the instrument cluster of the caddy look like they come from a chevy cobalt and the hood is just too high. I like the low stance and the flared fenders of the C63. My wife always comments how at every stoplight all the guys and some gals are looking at the car. The cross drilled rotors plus 6 pot callipers up front have close to an hypnotic effect.
I have to admit that I still turn around when I'm walking away from my c63 just to take a look at it and I've had it for a year now.
2 great cars. I know the one I like best

KenFlo, you are correct. Both Road & Track and Motor Trend did exactly that. The CTS-V kept up with or beat the M5 and there is a $15 to $20k price difference to boot.
A comparison with a C63 stacks some of the cards in favor of the CTS-V. I agree that the E-63 is a better match.
