550 HP ECU TUNE???
http://www.mkb-tuning.de/content/en/...prod_gruppe=11
If you scroll all the way down, you will see the C63 tuning. They claim that just an ECU can put out 550 HP! It doesn't seem too far fetched, since there are already 50 extra horses in there somewhere. But if this were true, then why is no one doing it? anyway i just wanted to ask if anybody knew anything about it and if it could be brought down to sunny southern california. i tried emailing their North America place but its been almost a week and no response..

I had the stage two package which included the headers etc.. and it did put down the numbers. Not sure about just a tune though. The pricing is high for what you get but they do have quality parts. Good luck!

Never heard of MKB tuning for C63 and am skeptical about the numbers ONLY with an ecu tune but who am I to judge...
I know Edo Competition in Germany claim 550hp with ecu tune, headers & exhaust.
If its been a week without no response, I suggest you give them a call...

Concerning the HO, I asked him if you push 551HP / 520TQ (w/one tune) would there be the potential to blow the engine (w/out the header upgrade) he stated that the C63 has been extensively tested from the first 2008 model in Germany with its stock exhaust and that C63 Exhaust is more then good enough for there Stage 1 Tune.
Now back to pricing, I waiting for a confirmed final price which should/ will be less then the $5495...
He also mentioned a GB discount if anyone would be interested?
The reason why I found this interesting, there is no need for exhaust upgrades which in the long run will save you from warranty issues ie; visable changes when being scoped by MB.
If you consider 581HP which will require headers (he told me Cut/Weld header pipes) I didn't ask for price... but its the final option down the road
MKB said he would send me the Dyno runs from Germany, does anyone know if the Dyno's in Germany are rated different (other then MB Dyno's) then the U.S>???? Mr. Daniel Bird from MKB N. America said No... I didn't think so either
What do you guys think? thoughts? 551HP 520TQ

Their products are high quality and do perform. I am sure the numbers are correct if Daniel said they are. He's the gentlemen I bought my set up from. The stage two package did make 581fwhp with the headers etc... Good luck!

Does anyone have HP TQ #'s from a Kleenmann K2?
I believe I was told K1 tune 505-510HP 480TQ
K2.... 535HP 495TQ ???? Anyone?

The way I look at is, a K2 will cost around 5K at the end (after install / ship cost, car rental), if Not more... with less HP and TQ,,, and you're adding a non OEM Exhaust, which concerns me (warranty issues??) down the line.

So now let say the cost is about Equal for a K2/ MKB stage 1:
K2- 560HP 519TQ (Tune + Exhaust cut/weld)
MKB- 551HP 520TQ (tune only)
Which one makes sense to get?????

If the 550HP with tune only is actually accurate then I would definitely go for that option over getting into more involved engine/exhaust modifications mainly for warranty reasons.

I would want to see some proof or hear some real world feedback regarding their 550HP ECU tune first. Where is this extra power coming from without any other add-ons? Have they figured out how to get the throttle bodies to open up more?

You can reach Daniel Bird @ MKB (360)-334-1016

If I go with a K1 that will be it (dead end)... or MKB now, then after warranty go for the MKB headers Stage ll tune for a 30+ HP.

I was going to buy Dad's MKB headers for my car, but changed my mind because of customer service. If I needed help or if I needed to re-flash my car after a dealer flashed it, I would probably not get my call returned for weeks. In fact, last message I left them was in June and still no response
I think they sell so many units in Europe that the U.S. branch is just mainly marginalized.

I think your numbers are off for the MKB tune:
405 kw = 543 hp
645 nm = 475 lb/ft of torque

I also verified #'s with MKB earlier today, may I ask where you found your #'s

The numbers were pulled directly from the web site...

The site says:
Increase in performance to 405 kW (551 HP) at 6800 rpm, 645 Nm at 5100 rpm
which converts to:
405 KW = 543 HP (1 HP = 0.746 KW)
645 nm = 475 ft/lbs (Multiply ft/lbs by 1.355817948 to get nm)

Now can someone reply to these #'s from MKB??? Why would they put (551) in there product discription?

So am I getting this right 100HP from a ECU tune? I guess this can make sense since the engine can do 510 hp in the e's and if you push it with a real tune instead of just removing the limit you should get a little more. Amazing really insane power.

i was just about to post that. yeah i did the calculations and got 543 or whatever. Strange.. either way im glad i found something that could help some of you guys. to me, im on the fence. MKB may have better numbers, but from what that one guy (sorry "that one guy") their customer service isn't as good, whereas kleeman and renntech can fix a problem in no time. but then again MKB is cooler since they are a 100% german tuner, whereas renntech, brabus, and kleeman have become more of "status" oriented. like i said im on the fence, so i can still go either way (no homo) depending on further info.
