Same-day Kleeman/Renntech tune for DC/Mid-Atlantic region
Hi everyone,
I saw some posts by James@ACGSD (Automotive Connoisseur Group Inc of San Diego) about same day Kleeman tunes (ie no 3-day downtime for your C63) and also heard that they are opening up a shop in Brooklyn, NY -- so pm'd him about doing a same day tuning event for the DC/Mid-Atlantic area.
Given prior commitments, this would have to be December 1-2nd (Tues-Wed), location TBD but in the DC area, Kleeman or Renntech tunes, each one turned around in about 30 minutes. For those of you who have to work, you could swing by that evening and he could have the tuned file ready for install the next day. Obviously, the upside of all of this is that your car would not be down for the usual 3 days if you sent your ECU to Kleeman.
Price will be just for the tune (Kleeman $1500, not sure about Renntech) -- James is kindly going to take care of lodging and travel.
Please post up your interest in this; it is viable but just a feeler at this point. I just got a CF diffuser from this company, but have no affiliation with them. They seem quite reputable from searching the threads. Thanks.

I may be down for this. My only reservation is I may go with LET due to lower costs (900). If LET does not look like they will deliver something by Dec, you can count me in.
Do they need a dyno? Mach V in Sterling has a dynojet. Otherwise we could go to P-tuning in Manassas which is kinda far but I know the co-owner.

I'll definitely consider this as well. Dockt, did you previous mention that they were giving some group discount if we can get more than 5? Or is that no longer the case since they are coming here?

Another local shop cleared it w/ Kleeman for a 10% discount for a group buy of 5. What do you say, James? Let's see how many sign on for this re: the dyno thing and location. Thanks for your interest.

I hope I dont sound too harsh, but the 10% discount is just not going to happen unless we get 10-15+ people. You have to consider that I am flying out to you guys, and also have hotel expenses along with the cost of the actual flashing tool that not many people have. To be honestly if we don't get more then 3-5 cars I'll actually lose money by making this trip. The Margins are just not there since the Kleemann price drop.
What you will be getting is a same day tune from either Kleemann or RENNtech whoever you chose to use. No down time, no having to pay for overnight shipping to and back to Kleemann. The shop that offered a 10% discount for 5 customers I'm sure will be charging to overnight the ECU both ways since he does not have the tool to flash the vehicle. So at the end of the day, you pay your local sales tax, and have to wait 3 days, or you get instant satisfaction, with minimal down time and no sales tax.
Either way the tune can be verified by either company if you wish to call and ask them. Just have your vin# ready.

The location is TBD but by request, I did speak w/ Mach V, an auto-everything shop in Sterling, VA about their DynoJet dyno -- it is currently available for the dates above (first come, first served). They can do before/after flash dynos for $100 if we keep each car on the dyno for 1 hr or less (this includes flashing time b/c they do not want to unstrap/restrap the same car). James, let me know if this is doable (they have wi-fi there). I think this will become more of a 2-day event if there's lots of dynos given the timing above and the need for Kleeman to have the files early in the day -- James, is this correct? fwiw, Mach V has done these before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyzvRu9HZ_Y
If anyone wants to do this w/ a before/after dyno, let me know -- the rate above is a group rate for 4 cars minimum. If there's not enough interest in the dyno part, we can keep things simple and quick and do these flashes any place w/ internet access per James.
For anyone on the fence, the sooner you make up your minds on the above issues, the smoother the day will go, and I suspect, the more satisfied everyone will be. Thanks for the interest, everyone!

Also please let me know if there is anything you guys would like to me with me, such as KN filters, or any euroteck products.

The ELM I can bring with me and install for you, that is no problem please give the office a call next week to put down a deposit on the elm. 211 ECU flash is also not a problem, however on the older ECU's we can only do RENNtech tunes, but I will see what the pricing will be for you.

My care has the build date of 06/05. Not sure which elm v2 i need 3 wire or 4 wire? I will give you a call on monday about pricing for the ecu tune.

Given what James said about the dyno #'s, we may want to get a group rate for just baseline dynos, w/c would be cheaper than before/after runs. This would also make the day go faster/easier. Individuals can return later for the after-flash dyno once the ecu has adapted.
