My 2009 C63 AMG is ready for its first service at the 10,000 mile indicator- my appointment is set for tomorrow at Hoehn Mercedes in Carlsbad. I've read in some previous posts that users have identified recalls and/or recommended fixes that I should take into the service call e.g. the adjustment of the rear trunk lid so that it does not scratch my bumper (which is occurring). I've also read that there is a new iPod adapter that will charge the iPod directly. Other than these two suggestions, what else should I be requesting when I bring my C63 in for this service? Has anyone experience any recalls; software, hardware, etc.? Any help is appreciated.

Are your rear brakes squeaking when you apply the brakes at low speeds? Mine had that problem when the car was quite new still and I had them change the pads and the problem was gone (and hasn't come back again since).

Might want to consider that.

Oh, another thing...some of the guys here also complained about a slight rattling from the rear deck speaker which might also warrant looking into if you're bringing the car in anyway (contingent, of course, on whether you're actually experiencing that problem or not).

Hopefully you have a good dealer. You shouldn't have to request anything. If there is a valid recall, they're required to do it, otherwise, they'd be on the hook for it later. I'm guessing you don't have the PP or you would have had the diff fluid changed already. It's too late for the oil change, but that's about it. Maybe you could ask them how to get an iphone recognized, I'm still working on that.

Sure your not the only one, but a lot are parking them for the winter. I have 47,000 on mine so far and not a single problem.

Absolutely no reason to. MB service recommends 10K or 1 year. Porsche actually recommends 15K or one year.

I hit Service A in the 1 year market before I hit the 10k miles.

Unfortunately, that statement your parroting from the owners manuals can be stretching it a bit. That service interval may be acceptable if the vehicle is driven under "Normal service" conditions which by API definition is not what most people drive in. An engine oils service life actually depends entirely on the environment, driving habits and the type of oil and filtration system the vehicle uses. All manufacturers face pressure to reduce maintenance costs and minimize wasted resources. So that cute little number is based with more emphasis on pleasing the cheap *** nits who dont like to spend any money and hate doing maintenance rather that ultimate engine life and performance.
With a top notch oil and by-pass system like that from Ams-oil, change intervals can be over 100,000 miles. Because my C63 runs so pig rich I am seeing fuel dilution with analysis after just a few thousand miles. And living where I do I often see elevated silicon (dust/dirt) levels in the oil.
I change my C63 oil every 5000 miles or 6 months whichever comes first.
It just seems to always come down to this; the enthusiasts who know about cars dont skimp when it comes to maintenance.

That's good for reg. oil, but for the newer synthetic oils like we use in the MB C63 AMG, changing oil every ~ 10k mi. is fine. btw - I used to change my non-synthetic oil (in older cars) every ~ 2,500-3,000mi., but now since using only the synthetic oil, every ~ 10k works just fine with zero issues.

SO enthusiast's who KNOW cars-KNOW more about AMG than AMG? Oil analysis, fuel dilution, exceptionally rich fuel mixture...... what about dumping fresh oil with its fresh batch of anti-friction compounds in an engine that is not broken in yet? That's ok? It seems ENTHUSIASTS never think about what type of issues that could cause.

You really think they just pulled that 10K miles/one year oil change interval out of their ***?The engineering folks figured out how to literally spray molten steel into an aluminum engine block to form the cylinder liners-but they didn't think about the proper oil change interval?.Mercedes-Benz isn't worrying about cutting cost by factory filling with synthetic oil. Since you aren't a cheap *** nit-what are you going to do about transmission service? Notice that there isn't a transmission dipstick?

I have no problem paying for or doing any service that is required.In fact, I'll be far under 10K when the one year is up. I'll just trust that Mercedes-Benz and AMG has done enough testing. I'll follow THEIR recommendations.

I had my 10K service done this week. They recommended the rear axle oil to be changed, even in the non LSD version. It was $60 or so extra. I'm sure "rear axle" is not the right technical term, but it was something like that. They had to order a special oil overnight that they did not have onhand.

One more thing, check your coolant before leaving MB service and make sure its replenished.

What about after the first 1000 miles of break-in. Did you change the oil at that point or still wait for the 10,000 mile mark?

10K on the oil change is good.. But to each thier own, some do longer intervals some less. Just remember you have a great engine, and it wil take care of you if you take care of it.
Has anyone here done a service 20 yet? I have slipped on mine (like over 7K behind ) and will have it done in the next week or so. Service 20 is the tranny oil and filter change. While I do this I will pull a sample and see how it is and looks. has anyone else done a sample on the Tranny jucie? All my oil samples look great and very normal, so very curious to see how the tranny looks. I drive very hard and very conservitive as well. Will be parking my car soon, Warrenty out soon now time to modify it, and will "reskin" the car and pull more mods so MAYBE I can keep up with the Silver Dragon, that will be a tall order but who knows By the way Josh, so sorry to hear about your Grandmom, thoughts are with you and keep the Silver Dragon rolling.

I changed mine at 1,500 miles.

I will change my oil every 5,000miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. It's just cheap insurance and gives me peace of mind.

I changed mine at 2,800 miles on the same day after a baseline dyno.

To the people saying 10k intervals is right because the big greedy corporation says its right...go do an oil analysis on that oil after 10k and come back here and see what you have to say then.

Thank you for all the feedback. The 10,000 mile service was completed yesterday in about 2.5 hours with the total bill coming to $413.00. The service included the following...
1. 10,000 mile service- oil, filter, etc.
2. rear differential fluid change
3. install of new iPod cable (no charge)
4. adjustment of rear deck lid (service campaign)
5. removal of scratches caused by rear deck lid (no charge)

Change my oil at @ 5000 miles and will do it at the 10k mark. 10k miles seems too long. :o
