Hey Kids,

I went to HRE this morning to pick up my wheels and was lucky enough to get a shop tour. Fortunately the front office was fairly torn apart because they were prepping for SEMA, so I got to get a good close look at the machine shop, and I'm just in awe of that place. I've been fortunate enough to run some nice CNCs and I gotta say the machine they have to make the Monoblocs absolutely gave me wood. It's a 5 axis horizontal with 100 pocket tool changer and pallet loader. That may be greek to some, but it basically means that it's one bad mother****ing milling machine. I wish I could have spent the day watching that one machine make chips. Anyway, it's a nice shop, and I was surprised at the amount of stock rim halves for the three piece wheels they have. There were three 40' long floor to ceiling storage racks just covered in them. Must have been thousands of them. And I was pleased to see all the Q/C stations they have. They really do take pride in what they make.

But the real point of my being there was to pick up my wheels. My beautiful brushed silver 19x9" front and 19x11" rear Comp 97 wheels. Some of you know the saga of incorrect offsets and other foibles delaying my getting these wheels (since April), but after seeing them in the flesh all is forgiven. And I know that statement is ridiculous to make without pictures, but I'm going to make it anyway, and get you pictures tomorrow. The fronts are completely new wheels, while the rears, which went in just to have a 1" wider lip put on, were completely stripped and refinished so they match the fronts and now they all absolutely glow.

i think that's what customer service is all about . the fact that a huge company can do exactly what a customer wants and can give them a personal tour of their place is good customer service . thats what you need to sell a product . big thumbs up to HRE

Wow, 315. I have 20’s with a 2 inch lip and 285’s and it’s a real squeeze. Do the 19’s make a big difference compared to 20's when fitting or do you intend to pump your guards or other modifications to fit them?

Other than the 3.5" widebody conversion? Nothing out of the ordinary.

Holy schnookies thats going to look amazing, cant wait to see those big lips on the Dragon.

 

Obviously the 315s will be awesome for the 1/4 mile, but how will they compare for say a 275 or 285 around the track?
