I wasn't even considering an X6M. But the more I stared at RRs, Cayennes, and X5s the more the X6 made sense. And the looks really do grow on you(in a positive way).
It does look better in person too.

So just planting your foot down yeildin sub 5 seconds runs? then i retract my statement but i was reading 2 sources, CnD and edmunds that LC shaved .5 second off, and i think CnD said .4 shaved.

Power braking this engine should be a faster way to 60mph, since you loading boost and the LC doesnt from what ive seen.

yep

Update:

For ****s and giggles I just retested without powerbraking(ie just stepping on it) and got a 4.3 second 60mph and 12.7@108 with a 1' roll.
The X6M is one of the easiest (if not the easiest) vehicles to get moving quickly out of the blocks that I've owned. It's easier than my GTR (which is saying something).

Guys.. I am racing one this weekend. From a dig to 200 km/h. Either I get my @ss handed to me, or I put up a good fight! It's all down to my very heavy foot i guess!

Wish me luck ( yah i know it's not an AMG, but I speak for all the sedan guys here ) LOL

I watched the Top Gear episode from last Sunday that had Jeremy racing a X5M about. The one thing I noticed is the lack of amazing V8 sound. C63 it ain't. Actually ML63 it ain't!

OK. How many people actually buy a vehicle because of the noise it makes?
It will paste an ML63 and run close to a C63. That is pretty amazing for a 5400lbs SUV.

yep.
What point are you trying to make?
That a X6M is hard to get moving compared to a C63?
If so, you're mistaken. The X6M is unbelievably easy to accelerate from a standstill.
It's much easier than any rear wheel drive car I've owned (CLK63 Black, M6, E46 M3, CLS55).

Nope not at all, just interested to see which is the best method.

Of course its easier, its consistent as hell i bet, i can agree on that 100% and that wasnt my point at all!!!

The powerbraking method (which is basically the LC) is pretty easy. Or just flooring it with the shift lever in the sport position.
It's wickedly quick. I'm considering dumping my GTR and sticking with one vehicle for awhile because its so fast. Then save up for something really special (GT3, Turbo, etc...)

i think X5 or 6m are like jeremey said on top gear completely pointless cars you can waste your money on.

I have to say though theres a lot of people out there with more money than what they know to do with and X5 OR 6M are the perfect car for these people.

In fact styling and other factors aside bmw has done an awesome job with the handling and overall performance of the X5M as it did a 1min 28 on top gear track which is faster than probably any SUV in the world. X5m is a great engineering success but otherwise pointless.

From once owning 2 X5 4.6is it's truly amazing what development has taken place in the Performance SUV market with the X5/6 M's. With that being said, I'm not attracted by the looks of the X6M however I respect the performance.

Explain to me why a performance SUV is any more "pointless" than a performance sedan.

Wink

I live in montreal. we get a lot of rain and snow. if there is one other car that i would change my c63 for it would probably be a x5m or a x6m. my wife would like it.

a c63 is 63 500$ can a x5m 98 000$can and a x6m 99 000$can.

bmw really delivered something awesome for that kind of money. Roomy, 4 season, and kick *** motor.

I just wonder if mercedes put 35 000$ in extra on the c63 what kind of car would they make it into?

A c63 with 525-550 hp with super wide fender like a black series. that would be fantastic.

I do have to say that a c63 sounds way better. Sound doesn't make it faster but it does make the ride more enjoyable. An normal aspirated engine will always sound better ex (gt3 vs 911 turbo)

Still the x6m is one heck of a machine. plus great in winter. move over porsche cayenne turbo...

Performance sedan is popular because it packs practicality and sportiness into a same compact package for a reasonable amount of money.

Performance SUV basicly does the samething as a performance sedan only for a lot more money. The fact is X5m or X6m is not very fast for the money nor is it anywhere near a comfy ride.

Of course like i said before i have no problem with people having too much money than what they noe to do with and these expensive performance SUVs are perfect fit for these people.

Personally I think X5m is fine but i seriously dont like the X6m I think its too much of a product thats just to fit in the gap in the market. its just too ugly, expensive, and not as practical as a X5m. So i deem it pointless.

You're kidding, right?
An M5 and M6 are basically the same price as a X5M and an X6M respectively. They're less practical than either and not much quicker.
And the "they are niche vehicles" "they fill a gap" battle cry of so many people is just weird. Peoples vehicle needs are a spectrum not polarized extremes.
And as far as looks of the X6M are concerned I obviously completely disagree. It looks great. Its a refreshing departure from the boring boxy SUV format of the past ten plus years.

M5 isnt really anymore unpractical than the X6m. M5 is for sure a lot more comfortable and nicer to drive. I know that people argue for that X6M has 4 wheel drive but its got 20INCH 315 performance tires and thats completely useless in the winter. Also good luck finding some snow tire for that size.

Give it up. Sheez.
You're the one talking about performance sedans being more practical than performance SUVs. The M5 and M6 are great cars but the X5M and X6M are great SUVs. And why do you believe the M5 is more comfy than the X5M? It's not. Have you driven either?
BTW, I have snow tires(Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow) on my stock X6M 20" off set wheels right now.

I respect the X6M but when most people shop for a vehicle, they look at similar priced vehicle (it may be different kind of vehicles i.e. SUV versus 2 door coupe).
You are the one who started to talk about modding the X6M therefore it makes sense that I would take the price of the car in consideration.
This is obviously going nowhere. Enjoy your 2.5 ton SUV and I will enjoy my C63. Peace.
And the X6M is really ugly too

I like 'em, Chip. Triumph of engineering of physics the X5 and X6 M. 0-60 is just ridic and power can be deployed mid corner for a slingshot effect. Not as fast as an M5 or 63-series car on the freeway but will best them below 100...

They need to make Estoril Blue available again and offer a special, wishful thinking
