It's a juvenile attempt at baiting forum members and makes him look like there's a very large chip on his shoulder indeed.
If I posted anything that was received as a bait, then I apologize! That wasn't my naked intent. I may guilty of a little friendly jabbing here and there, but never has it been my intention to be a full head-on troll. Sorry you took whatever it was I said the wrong way. Please don't forget that I AM a AMG owner,... granted the last generation of AMG's C-Class. But if I had lost any passion with my C32, I would have traded in the same transaction I took delivery of the V. It cost me $16,000 to keep her,... would have been nice to have that taken off the final price of the V, but she still works for me and I'm still proud to have her. 16k wasn't worth her leaving.

LOL...hey Eric, if your intention isn't to wind up C63 owners, then I'll take your word for it. But let's try to have more constructive input from you about the C63 (afterall, that's what this forum is here to discuss) from now on.

Peace out.

In some respects, it faces a similar challenge to that of the IS-F, whose majority of stablemates are also aimed squarely at the more geriatric car buyer. And while both the IS-F and CTS-V are very capable sports sedans, they have to make do in the marketplace without the benefit of decades of autoracing success to back up their claim to be amongst the elite of their market segment. It's the difference between being in acquisition mode (Lexus and Cadillac) and retention mode (MB, BMW, Audi).

As for Ericpd, I personally don't have a problem with him. I don't own MBWorld so it's not my place to say what you can and cannot post here. But I do know well enough when someone's thinly veiled attempts at "discussion" are in fact propaganda and condescension, so why not just recognize it for what it is and stop pretending?
I hear ya Sebring.

In regards to your first sentence, I will say the MB owners seem to be WAY more objective in discussing the "V" than other luxury brand owners, particularly BMW folks. I likely have some incorrect memory retention from perusing other boards.

Perhaps it's the commonalities that make the "V more acceptable to the guys here. Similar architecture: big blown V8's (or in MB's case, even blown V-12's), the fact that I see many more MB guys dragging their cars than say M5 or M3 guys, owners extensively modifying their cars, etc. Seems that the MB guys are more alike to what a CTS-V owner is to me, than the BWM guys.

I confused some of the BMW guys' comments as originating here. My mistake. For example:

- Yea it's probably really fast, that's super. I'd still rather drive a 10-year old M5 than some chromed-out plastic-filled box........That interior is just horrific...pop-up nav screen = FAIL

- Drive, handling, interior, seats, transmission are all lacking in my opinion. The fact that they put some turbo action on a big V8 is not exactly awe inspiring.

- The caddy is a GM plastic chrome-laiden POS that's a "rattle-trap" in 2 years. When I'm 85 (in the nursing home) maybe I'll consider a POS caddy because I'll need all that chrome and shine to help me find my car.

- The caddy is an inferior product and remains such.

You got it Sebring! But please, allow me the option (not a right but an option) to defend the V from future attacks simple based on the badge she wears and her country of origin. Deal? Remember,... she's a family member as well. Peace out.

The CTS-V Challenge was in NY, not MI and was for production performance sedans in factory trim, not modified cars.

Yeah,... what gnxs said. But still,... you C55 is impressive. I've done a x-cross or two with my C32, one with the GWS-MBCA down in Winchester, WV. They are harder than they appear, and they absolutely eat tires, so I stopped. So I understand your accomplishments. Nicely done. I once watched a C32 all out spank a 911 in one of those events, but this guy had that C set-up for the event,... a seriously prepared race car, not something he drove to the event.

But I got what you're feelin'. The only mods I have on the my C32 are a pulley, tune and an LSD and even today it isn't too hard walking away from most Mustangs.

my bad, thought it was MI

It is interesting though a newer E63 was not represented ... the other german counterparts were...

I still have the full interior, big heavy Lorinser LM5 19" wheels (245 front, 265 rear), spare tire, so not fully setup as a race prepped racercar

I have debated about getting a set of CCW lighweight wheels with some proper autocross tires though this year and trying to get to topeka but SM is such a tough class when you can be put in same class as a weight reduction (caged) EVO IV /w about 420hp on autocross tires too ...

At the end of the day the car is still a 3500 LB sedan driven by a fat guy @ 245lb; but damn its fun seeing the look on a guy in a viper or vette after a autocross run and I am near their times
