C63 507 AMG DA Car #19
Got the green-light for an AMG for me:)

We just bought a used 09 C63 loaded with everything White w/PP with 800 miles for the wife. The deal was she would keep it until the warranty is up and then I get it to play with. Well after she drove this for 2 weeks now..... she says I will NOT get this car ever

BUT she's agreed to me getting a new car next fall..... SOOOO here's my question for you all......

Option 1.0 - Order a new 2010 C63 from the factory..... the car I want will cost almost 80K NEW........ carbon fiber, pp-plus, etc.....

Option 2.0 - Pick-up a used 09 next fall for 50K......... will most likely not be able to get the pp in a used car or the nice sound system..... most used c63's we see around here don't have many features......

OR.........

Option 3.0 - Pick-up a used 08 CLK63 Black Series for 70-80K...... dealer says these pop up occasionally.

.......

I hate to get the same car as the wife..... BUT she has THE car I want down to the trim/color/options......... The best bargain is a used 09C63 and spend the extra money on mods..... long tubes, heads, cams, tune........ the exclusive option is the wicked CLK63Black......

My goal for the car is to daily drive it and immediately add mods... and copy what Dad'C63 has done on here...... run mid 11's.

Let me know your thoughts gents.

Yes
I think its absolutely nuts to have the exact same car as your wife. She cant drive it 24 hours a day. Drive it when she isnt. When you both are together, you drive....surely she can compromise.

#1 is crazy, buying this car new is never a good idea unless youre going to keep it until the wheels fall off, and even then, if you can wait a year you save $20k+.

Go for the used 2009 C63. Damn $50k or so is a bargain. Blk series looks like a overdone Clk.

Used

Yeah I'm thinking lightly used 09C63..... there is an 09C63 at our local dealer for $55K right now........

I'm thinking heads/cams/intake/exhaust/tune (phase 1)....... then in a few years consider the stroker.... seeing what the stroker LSX's are running in the Z06's...... they are monsters with no blowers/turbos to deal with.

CLK 63 Black Series, that's a no brainer. Either way, you will have an nice automobile.

I'm thinking you answered your own question (a used one). A C63 is a nice ride

If it were me - I'd leave it factory stock. I would not go near the black series you mentioned - unless you can afford one of the new SL black series (there's a reason there are quite a few of the cheaper ones on ebay right now) - and I would seriously consider a CLS 55 or CLS 63 used as well ... just to be different. Ultimately the response you want from your wife is "Can I drive that sexy CLS 63 of yours just down to get some milk?" If you can live with 2 doors - check out a used CL 63.

2012 C63 and some other stuff
Used CLK63 Verts were $90K new and can be had for a song . . . .get her to take the Vert and you take her car . . . . then join the "Mod Squad"

Good Luck!

I'd really love to hear your logic for this statement!
I'm also amused by "the cheaper ones" part!

To the OP, the CLK Black is rather hard core, it's not for everyone, try it though, it's worth a test drive.

I wouldn't get two of the same thing. Get a BS since that is really unique.

Like SIN, HIRO, DFW, gsrjc, and Bluert have said, the CLK63 BS would be the optimal choice (out of the three you've posted). It's even more hardcore than the C63, but the only problem you'll have is when your wife eventually gets behind the wheel of the BS, you'll end up having to buy yet another car because you'll certainly never get it back.

i would get a CLK black if i were you

getting the same car twice is kinda of silly but getting two of the same car at once is just argh.....

If you like the C63 you will probably fall in love with the CLK Black since i take as a hardcore version of the C63.

LOL to the poster who said once my wife drives the BS I'll need another one! My wife is a gear head also, I never thought she'd care about AMG anything........ but she loves HER new C63. I even tried to entice her with a new Mini-cooper next fall and she was not having it...... saying " how much HP does a mini-cooper have?"......... I digress.

My 2 concerns about the BS is: 1) getting a used performance car with less warranty, and most likely run hard........... and 2) the weight. almost 4K lbs.

From a numbers standpoint the used C63 looks like a better choice on paper....... less wgt, room for 2 extra people, same engine/trans (needs a tune to get similar power, but similar hardware), similar agressive styling...... it looks like they took styling cues from the CLKBS and infused them right into the C63, and you get all of this for less cost.

But we all know the BS has that look, and fully adjustable chassis, and the link to DTM series.......

Has anyone driven both? Any real-world experience in both cars you can share?

Thanks Gents

Very valid, however with one notation. You are looking to do, heads, cams, headers, tuning, etc etc., this all equates to no warranty, so to be honest, I think this is the least of your concerns. The BS is awesome for sure, but the C63 is more practical, and a bit more "sleeper".

Well thanks for all the useful input guys...... I made the call to my local MB dealer and he's got his feelers out for low mlg examples....... if something comes up for sale in the area I'll go for a test drive and see what's up.

Now I have to save up my beans and patiently wait until next fall........

CLK63Black is the answer for my HP needs

Not sure if you are still looking but I have an 09 C63 that I purchased in September of 08. The car has 9500 miles on it in 15 months. It aslo has Renntech ECU upgrade, BMP filters, and the 19" AMG 16 spoke rims and tires. All mods and rims/tires were done at about 8000 miles. The car is in mint condition and actually still smells new. It is not my daily driver and I have taken exceptional care of this car. It has all options but has the P1 package and not the P2 package. I have over 75K invested and looking to get 55K
