How can I find out which version of the GPS map data is loaded onto my harddrive?

 

The Navigation DVD disc that comes with the car has the version number on the right hand side of the disc.

My car did not come with the disc.
Is that for Aus model only

 

I did not get a disk with my car either. The GPS data was already loaded onto the car's harddrive.

 

My navigation also came preloaded.

Along with the C63 manuals and other info, I also received a couple of discs.
The Navigation DVD COMMAND APS 2009 disc and a Harman/Kardon test disc for the audio system.

I’ve attached a photo, it’s not the best but it gives you the idea of what I got. The 3rd disc in the pic is from my BMW which has the same Harman/Kardon system. It was also preloaded.

For your info both the Mercedes and BMW navigational maps are supplied in Australia by ‘Sensis Whereis’.

The Mercedes disc is for Australia & New Zealand. It is Version 3.0, AUSTRALIAN V 15 & NEW ZEALAND V 4

My BMW which is a February 2009 build, has version V 14.

If you check out the ‘Whereis’ website you can see the current version for various manufacturers.

Ask your MB dealer where your disc is.

Go to the navi menu and in the end you' ll see the option "map version"
If your comand don't have this option then make the telematics upgrade (09/09 version)....

 

Does the stealership charge for version upgrades?

They charge for the navi version updates, but do they charge for firmware/comand updates? How can you tell what comand version you have?

 

Usually the comand have 2 updates every year . One in the first two months of the year and the second between august and october....The last one for the W204 was at September.....normally they don't charge the "telematics update".... You can see if you have the latest version of comand through the star diagnostic...
