Upgrading my Brakes!
Hey guys, anyone know what are the best available brake upgrades for my C63?? I've just done a K1 upgrade and i'm thinking it's in my best interest to upgrade my stopping power as well, damn this thing moves!

I think Brembo Gran Turismo BBK. Even the regular version will be more then enough (I mean you don't have to get Race version) They make our current OEM rotors (as some members mentioned)
Or just use the PCCB from your P car j/k
I think that Carbon Composite brakes are not that practical for every day use. Warming them up, avoiding fast temp change (ex: rain).
My own opinion, is to upgrade brake lines (SS) and get some "racing" braking fluid, maybe getting Evosport Rotors is a good way as well (I think they are coming out with a set for the front axle as well ) Less weight + More ventilation = GOOD ))

Stock brakes with SS lines and 2 piece rotors front & rear are quite capable. You could always get a more agressive pad compound. Unless you are tracking the car every weekend I'd be surprised if you needed more.

May I ask what kind of brake lines are you running and what type of fluid.
I remember you had a thread on this matter about half a year go. (Something about how to bleed the brakes if I recall correctly)

If you feel some fade with good pads and fluid then I would recommend aftermarket lines, I know Evo sport sells some. If anyone has feedback on them please post it.

According to Mercedes Enthusiast magazine, Brembo makes the stock C63 brakes (6 piston front/4 piston rear). Upgrade the lines, rotors and possibly pad compound it you should be set.

C63 AMG Arctic w/ Stage 1 Tune, DoubleXX pipe, MCD-631X coming soon
We tested the stock braking system at Button Willow this last December, we feel that the stock calipers are sufficient in terms of clamping force, and predictability. The front rotors (non PP cars) is a development we have been working on, and there is something shocking, the C63 front rotors were the heaviest rotors to tip the scales that we've ever seen, so a light weight rotor up front is a NEED on these cars, so were venturing down this road already. Virtually every 1lb shaved off rotational mass equates to approx. 7lb non rotational "static mass" weight off the car. SS lines and different compound pads are also in the works as we speak, becuase from our knowledge NO one is offering a different compound other than stock ATM, and I can tell you after a day of track time the stock pads were all cracked (and to you racers out there, yes we did not set the parking brake, and we rotated the car for even thermal cool down). So very soon there will be some exciting braking items for you guys.

I ordered my SS brake lines through Renntech. Renntech also has a kit for the C63. You can also get the rear 2 pcs rotors from Evosport. You have a couple of options at this point

I'm soon to be picking up a 09 C63 with AMG perf pack-2 piece rotors, limited slip,174 top speed. I want to know about the 2 piece rotors-like how much bigger or same as regular AMG size? Pad material? What benefits? They do look huge and very thick.

Carbothech makes pads for our car and offers a choice of 5 or six different compounds.
My 2 piece rear rotors are from Evosport and the fronts are stock AMG PP 2 piece units.

I have had a few cars that brake very well (c6 Z06, 3 Evos and a Eclipse with a set of Brembos in all corners) and I consider the C63 stock brakes to be an outstanding brake set up from factory, let alone the PP is even better with the ceramic componenents.
Honestly, I would only do a lighter set of rotors, that is always beneficial(better acceleration, better gas mileage, less weight, better braking, better cooling, etc).
I personally have no intentions to upgrade the brakes, you can't really get much bigger than the stockers and if you do they wouldn't make much of a difference. The pads can make a difference but again I consider the stock C63 brakes to be plenty of braking power, they also modulate the braking very well...
