BMW will launch the new M5 in 2011, the super saloon variant of the F10-series new 5-series family.
• 4.4-litre V8 bi-turbo
• 578bhp, 530lb ft
• 155mph limited top speed
• 0-62mph 4.4sec
• Unlimited top speed 188mph
That direct-injection 4.4 lump is the same engine you'll find under the hood of the X5 M and X6 M, but further tweaked by M Division to liberate more power. Forced induction makes it the first M saloon to be turbocharged.

I believe that's still a CG mockup, the actual "look" hasn't been finalized. I hear they're also adding regenerative braking (KERS) to the mix. Regardless, it's going to be a ridiculous car in line with the AMG method of power production: more...sooner.

I'm a bit surprised it's not closer to 4.0 0-100 kmh with all that power. I guess their 4.4 number is conservative (which I don't blame)

Actually it's not so much the fact that this new engine uses FI but the fact that this flatplane V8 sounds like crap. It sounds like a Honda Civic! Well fine an Audi A4 2.0T. Not that there's anything wrong with that but my point is this is a far cry from the E60's juicy V10 or the E39's lovely crossplane V8. M5's are supposed to sound good!

I hope they update the interior too. Also, the I-drive layout really was fugly!!
Not Bad!!
I might look at one when it comes out and seriously compare it to the TT E class AMG.

I think it looks too much like a 3 series.
Would look better if the car was lower.
Flat crank engine good, turbos not good for engine noise.
V10 howling from current M5 most likely way better soundtrack.
How much for all of this???
Fast car + expensive = easy
Fast car + affordable = not so easy (praise the C63)
