Because a C63 is a torque monster of a car and will tow with ease? Not only that, but I can tow in comfort.
I ask about a tow bar, nothing available for C63, but there is a 700kg tow bar for the normal C class. I kinda wanted a 2000kg one so I can tow a race car/trailer.
I think the reason MB might not want the C63 to tow is the gearbox might not be made for those weight loads? I've had a once off tow bar made for a previous car and it was all up $650 installed (2 tonne too)
EDIT: I just noticed all the Aussies have already asked/investigated this, and the Americans are like "towing wtf". Must be an aussie thing to feel as if you need a tow bar haha

If you tow with a C63 I think your rear tires are going to evaporate rather quickly. Keep that in mind.
I also agree that the C63 doesn't have a tow bar as an option.
Maybe go to a tow bar installation place? I bet that mercedes just hires an outsider to come do the job at mercedes and takes a big cut on the install $$$.

Hey AlexCim, I will upload a few tomorrow arvo/night for you. (being fitted tomorrow morning 7:30am) apparently they have done 2 or 3 - C63 towbars this yr. Obviously an aftermarket part, not sure of anyone else who does them for the AMG's. Ive hunted around for a few days.
It wont be a 2000kg job though, I just need it to drag around an 8' x 5' pantec holding a couple of Go Karts.

Hi AlexCim, I hope these pics load ok. Took the guys at Speedy about 2.5hrs to fit.
I wouldn't say its the most hansom addition to a C63, However it certainly makes the animal more practical. Well to my needs anyway.
The towbar can be removed by two bolts, the rear diffuser only had to be slightly trimmed to make room. Apart from a tow bar sticking out, I couldn't really tell any difference to the rear end.

Hello All
New to this Forum ,
Also have same Issue in South Africa , no one wants to attempt the fitment of a towbar to a C 63 AMG.
Is it a Standard w204 Towbar or is it a custom Job ,
Saw the pictures on the thread and it looks like a nice fitment --Did it work out ok in the end ??
Thanks and any help and input would be great

I am glad someone brought this topic. I am also looking at getting a towing hitch. I am planning on towing a motorcycle and maybe a small camper/rv/trailer.

I remember a number of hard runs against M5s and those Bimmers had their CEL come on (two different M5s on two separate occasions). A towhook would have come in handy in those situations so I could tow them to the nearest BMW dealership.

Hey All
You have to go after market, Ive been towing around a Pantec double Go Kart Trailer (1000kg) with no fuss. Its a standard Bar, however the rear defuser needs to be trimmed slightly. MB refuse to fit them to the AMG.
see the link below: this is the company that did mine, they may be able to point you in the rite direction. Cost just over $1000 and took about 2.5hrs to fit.

C63 Edition 63 Tow Bar
I just took delivery of a Dec 09 C63 Edition 63 and MB would have nothing to do with fitting a towbar. I eventually went to Peddars in South Melbourne who charged a very reasonable price and did an excellent job. They used a Hayman Reece towbar designed for the C-Class.
